I've recently become interested in Roman history and military history. Of course a big part of Roman military history in the Roman Gladius or short sword. I wanted to purchase a Gladius just for display so I went to about ten different sword seller websites and they had some nice swords but you're looking at spending anywhere from $150-$300. So I saw this Gladius on the Amazon site and at first I was concerned that because of the low price that it was probably a cheap quality item. But I ordered it anyway and I was really quite surprised when it arrived. It is actually pretty historically accurate in its appearance meaning blade and handle design. And the scabbard was quality too having a black scabbard with nice brass accents. And the sword fits very tightly and securely in the scabbard with no wobble. When you pick it up it has real weight to it meaning overall this is a very accurate replica of a Roman Gladius (Maintz style). It is not a cheap knock-off or shoddy replica. And for the price you can't beat it. I use it basically as a display but you can pick it up and draw it anytime as if you were in Gaul or Germania with the Legions. Definately good buy for the price.
