Product Description:
Sony Pictures The Fifth Element (Blu-ray)
New York cab driverKorben Dallas didn't mean to be a hero. But he just picked up the kind of fare that only comes along every five thousand years a perfect beauty, a perfect being, a perfect weapon. Now, together, theymust save the world. Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, and Gary Oldman star in acclaimed director Luc Besson's outrageous sci-fi adventure, an extravagantly styled tale of good against evil set in an unbelievable twenty-third century world.

Amazon.com essential video:
Ancient curses, all-powerful monsters, shape-changing assassins, scantily-clad stewardesses, laser battles, huge explosions, a perfect woman, a malcontent hero--what more can you ask of a big-budget science fiction movie? Luc Besson's high-octane film incorporates presidents, rock stars, and cab drivers into its peculiar plot, traversing worlds and encountering some pretty wild aliens. Bruce Willis stars as a down-and-out cabbie who must win the love of Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) to save Earth from destruction by Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg (Gary Oldman) and a dark, unearthly force that makes Darth Vader look like an Ewok. --Geoff Riley

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Outstanding High Defintion Remastering--very entertaining
This review refers to the Ultimate Edition of "The Fifth Element"--which is a weird, entertaining, humorous, science fiction movie filled with strange, funny moments, lots of special effects, and futuristic gadgets. The movie mostly takes place in NYC, 300 years from now. The film is PG-13, so the kids can watch it. My 11-year old son thought it was a hoot. Bruce Willis is the main attraction in this movie--if you do not like Bruce Willis--you will not like this film. Other reviews have more plot details.

The big, pleasant surprise about this 1997 movie is the unbelievable transfer to DVD. It was "remastered in high definition". This remastering sets a high standard by which all other remastering should be compared. The sound and picture are flawless! Presented in anamorphic widescreen, this DVD is already high defintion. If you have the right kind of DVD player, the Blu-ray release of this movie is not required. I watched this movie on a 46-inch high-definition Samsung TV, played on a Toshiba 1080p HD DVD. The Toshiba HD DVD players are quite good at "upconverting" regular DVDs and making them look almost like high defintion quality. I believe the Blu-ray DVD players also upconvert, depending on the model. Anyway, the sound and picture quality make this DVD a winner. Sharp, crisp images with vivid color--I could even see the sweat beads and pores on Bruce Willis's face--the picture is that good.

Highly recommended!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Pretty Sweet
The Fifth Element (Remastered) Blu-ray is a pretty sweet movie. I have always like the movie Fifth Element but creating this movie as Blu-ray only makes this movie that much sweeter. My advice is if you have the funds go a head and purchase this movie because it is pretty sweet.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One To Be Added To The Classics
I find myself never tiring of watching this film...each time I watch it...I still enjoy watching the cast in action...

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - 5th Element Blue-Ray
Looks amazing, but thought there would be some more extras. All in all a great buy

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great movie, sharp picture
The Fifth Element is one of my favorite sci-fi movies, and this Blu-ray release of it is obviously the best version you can get. The picture is sharp, the colors are vibrant, and the sound is crisp. I originally bought the DVD when it was released. Then I purchased the "SuperBit" version when that came out. It was better, but still left a lot to be desired. This version is near perfect. The movie's age only shows a little bit here and there with some graininess in the picture, but it was never enough to bother me. Considering the price of this movie, I know you won't regret it. Buy it now!
