Editorial Review:

Album Description:
Patton has been a stand-up comedian for almost twenty years and this is his second CD. Lazy...or maybe busy. He's appeared in over twenty movies, including 'Magnolia', 'Reno 911!: Miami', and the documentary 'The Comedians Of Comedy', which he also created and produced. He played Spence on 'The King Of Queens' for nine seasons, is a regular on 'Reno 911!', a frequent guest on Conan and Jimmy Kimmel, and a recurring voice actor on 'Kim Possible', 'SpongeBob SquarePants', 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force', and 'Crank Yankers'. He's a regular columnist in the NY Times Magazine and was an uncredited writer on the 'Borat' movie. He's also the lead voice in this summer's Pixar movie, 'Ratatouille', playing a rat named Remy. This is his first CD on Sub Pop and it includes a DVD with one hour of stand-up.

Amazon.com:
On his second 'solo' album, this stand-up comic and character actor proves himself to be not just a foul-mouthed everyman and an unrepentant geek, but a rather awesome wordsmith as well. That a comedian might rant about how 'Cirque du Soleil is like catnip for old people' or the ridiculous unhealthiness of a popular item at the fast food chain KFC is not surprising. That he'd call the fast food item 'a failure pile in a sadness bowl' is, let's face it, pure poetry (and really, actually funny the way he tells it). On the track 'I Tell a Story About Birth Control and Deal with a Retarded Heckler,' Patton displays some of the finest manipulation of a disturbing audience member you'll ever hear. That the album was released by Sub Pop makes perfect sense, as Patton not only has Catholic music tastes--tossing off references to Hasil Adkins, the Pixies, Minor Threat, and Roky Erickson--but as we all know, stand-up is 'the new grunge.' --Mike McGonigal

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Who Doesn't Love Character Actors
Patton Oswalt has produced a wonderful comedy album -- I found myself in stitches while listening to this album. The bits are sharp, relevant, and hard hitting. He does a great job in utilizing tone and pitch of his voice so the listener can envision his facial expressions. His bit about Brian Dennahey was one of my favorite.

If you like observation based comedy with a heavy dose of adult humor, then this comedy album is for you!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Still Feelin' Kinda Patton, or "Starting Today, Everybody Has To Marry A Pelican!"
With the passing of the late and not-so great George Carlin, the baton in my mind has now officially been passed onto the culinary rat from the Pixar film, Patton Oswalt. Listening to this CD however, you would never guess that this guy who rants a no-holds barred fire-bombing, devastating everything in his sights until the last C-Word, WTC joke and W. jab is spewn, plays in a family film as a cute rat who cooks. Be warned, you will probably be offended.

That all being said, between the political commentary I could have done without, there are some pretty damn funny bits. Chief among these, " At Midnight I Will Kill George Lucas with a Shovel," which is for all us geeks who express much hate at George Lucas' Star Wars prequels. Because, between all the hilarity, he actually makes a pretty good case. Then there's Oswalt's best track so far, "You Are Allowed 20 Birthday Parties." This track lays out the rules for how many birthdays you can really have, or the birthdays that anybody gives a crap about. And when you think it can't get any better, he gets to the 100's, where he explains that you can murder anybody, and get away with it. "This is how we weed out the weak people," Oswalt says, "if you get beat up by a 100 year old, then you deserve to die." This is a classic track that builds up and comes off so funnily.

Oswalt has some pretty good material up his sleeve, and while it may sound formulaic at the times, like a standard comedy album, complete with 15-second tracks, ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Top 10 comedy CD of all time
As modern comedy CD's go have there been a more creative and funny album since Bill Hicks' library of genius. Patton has really found his own with this CD, and how its gone under the radar like it has is beyond me. Highly Recommended.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - What's the Big Deal?
I purchased this CD on the basis of the glowing reviews here on Amazon and I'm just scratching my head after listening to it five times. It's just not that funny. There's a few good moments, but nothing to support all the five star reviews. I see Amazon has it on sale today for $2.99 and sadly, I'm not certain it's even worth that amount of cash. Save your money and buy some George Carlin- a true master of comedy.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - God Bless Patton!!
I think Patton Oswalt is the cutest funniest guy in the world.
I'm a huge fan of this particular cd of his because it comes with the DVD. The DVD doesn't have nearly enough on it, but it's a good compliment.
My favorite thing on the disk is when he's talking about birthdays and when he tells us how he got kicked off Best Week Ever.
Classic!!
