Developing positive self-esteem and persevering in the face of difficulties are fundamental parts of growing up, but when 12-year old orphan Lewis (Daniel Hansen and Jordan Fry) can't seem to get adopted or make his inventions work despite repeated efforts, he begins to seriously doubt himself and his abilities as an inventor. A CGI picture by Disney with great animation and a fresh vision of what the future might look like, Meet The Robinsons follows Lewis from his lonesome days at the orphanage to his crushing failure at the school science fair when his newly invented memory scanner won't work. Then, an odd boy named Wilbur Robinson (Wesley Singerman) shows up to warn Lewis about the mysterious 'Bowler Hat Guy' (Stephen J Anderson) lurking around the science fair, an evil man Wilbur claims is from the future. The next thing Lewis knows, he and Wilbur are on route to the future via time machine. Once there, Lewis meets the very quirky, extended Robinson family with whom he feels oddly at home. As the search for the Bowler Hat Man and his constant companion Doris (Ethan Sandler) becomes more and more dangerous, the Robinson family becomes crucial in keeping Lewis safe. In the end, Lewis returns to the present with a whole new inner strength, a sense of his place in the world, the knowledge that his actions directly affect others, and an optimistic determination to 'keep moving forward.' While comparisons with the Back to the Future films are inevitable, Meet the Robinsons stands apart from its predecessors as its own, thoroughly entertaining family film. (Ages 4 and older)

Included is the seven-minute 1938 short Mickey Mouse's Boat Builder in which Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck order and assemble a do-it-yourself boat kit and launch an impressive ocean liner dubbed the 'Queen Minnie.' Needless to say, hilarity reigns throughout and following the boat-building process. --Tami Horiuchi

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Highly underrated
Great little movie. I'm surprised it didn't get better reviews. Kids and adults liked it. Check it out, good addition to your movie library.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not very enjoyable for adults
I suppose this is a good one for the kids 10 and under but for adults it is barley bearable. I enjoyed Monster House and Ratatoie much more than this one.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fantastic Family Movie
I bought this movie on a whim and wasn't really looking for it being very good due to the trailers I'd seen. It just looked strange and plotless from the impression I got from the trailer. I was very pleasantly surprised when I watch this movie! The music is great, Danny Elfman does a great job and brings out a lot of emotion with the music, but this story isn't music dependent it just adds to it, like it should. The visuals are incredible, we've come a long way in this CGI world and in Blu-Ray this does become a world in itself especially in the future scenes , and the main plot is heartwarming. I tell everyone that this is my new favorite movie.

The Robinson family is eccentric yes, and maybe a little unbelievable, but hey, this is fiction! Only in this movie can a wife be just a puppet some how come off as understandable and there are some who may not be able to handle the zaniness, but just sit back and enjoy the ride. Not everything in life has to be so serious all the time and completely based in reality. Some people have mentioned thinking that young kids won't like this movie, but that is totally incorrect! My four children are 6, 4, 3, and 1 they want to watch this movie at least once a week. Maybe they don't get the whole plot, but they enjoy the adventure and just take it for what it is. I love all of the main characters, even the bad guy is one of the most enjoyable I've seen in a long time. He's stupidly funny that makes the kids laugh and not be scared of ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fun, Funny, & Fantastic!
I LOVE this movie. I don't often purchase DVDs, I rented this from Blockbuster b/c my wife likes animated films and I probably heard something on the news about it. I know I don't remember this getting much advertisement. I bought this DVD because it's awesome. I can't believe how many deprived people in this world haven't seen this awesome film. Lots of laughs, fun, and legitimate family values points. No romance!!! The kid isn't trying to hook up with some Disney-fied beauty queen, he wants a family. Works out pretty well, plus I'm a sci-fi fan. Highly recommended.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Meet the Robinsons
This is currently my children's favorite movie. Best movie released by Disney in years. The Blu-Ray version that I purchased is definitely a "Show Piece" title for Blu-Ray in both picture and audio quality.
