I had low expectations when I purchased these. Most Products in this genre ranged at around 200 dollars. These were half the cost...thus I had half the expectations.
I was incredibly surprised how well they did. I had a cross pacific journey and I actually used them to cut down on the engine noise for a much more pleasant flight. I actually now use them quite extensively at my desktop whenever i'm doing work. They seem to make my music that much better by cancelling extemporaneous sound.
So to summarize, great quality at this price point.

Nowhere did I see in the product specifications that these headphones were ON THE EAR. Though they do a decent job of noise canceling and less noticeable buzz than with a comparably priced pair of Able Planet noise canceling headphones.
However, I am of the school that in order to do the BEST job of noise cancellation, the headphones need to cup the ear. Headphones sitting on the ear allow too much ambient noise into the ear. I have since upgraded to a pair of competitor's on-the-ear noise canceling headphones (3 times the cost). But in my opinion, the over the ear and lack of buzz, make the more expensive headphones worth the investment.

Good product does help reduce the noise on the airplane. Even works to cut down engine noise even if you are not playing music.

I travel a lot and always wanted to purchase a pair of Bose headphones, but the price was always seemed a bit out of reach. I read a few reviews here and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did - I've been very happy with my purchase.
The case is very nice, and it comes with all the connectors you need to plug into your computer phone (I have an iPhone) or airline seat. Replacing the battery isn't fun (you have to pull off one of the foam ear thingies and you're kinda afraid it's gonna break), but it's pretty simple. I'm no audiophile, so I can't speak to the musical quality, but I've used it on flights from NY to Israel and NY to Australia and have been very happy.
As others have noted, if you wear glasses (as I do), wearing these for extended periods pushes the top of your ear against the temple of your frames, resulting in discomfort. I find that I have to adjust my glasses to sit just above my ear to avoid this discomfort (it doesn't bother me as much because at my age, I find I remove my glasses when reading or using my computer, which is when I am most often using the headphones).
The case has a nice pocket to keep all the accessories handy and it's also perfect for keeping a few extra AAA batteries (they last long though). It's nice that unlike the Bose headphones, these still work as headphones even when the battery is dead (you just lose the noise-cancelling part).
For the price, these are a GREAT value. I'm sure the Bose headphones are nice - but I can't imagine them being $200 better.

I have had these headphones for about a month now and they are great. I have used them for air travel and in other noisy environments and the provide excellent quality of sound as well as noise reduction. For the price they can't be beat.
