Product Description:

Amazon.com Product Description:
The Smith & Wesson CK5TBS Extreme Ops serrated knife is ideal for camping, hunting, fishing, and a host of other applications. The folding knife offers a comfortable black aircraft aluminum handle that measures 4.06 inches long, along with a 3.22-inch partially serrated stainless tanto blade that cuts through everything from vegetables to fishing line. The blade also secures tightly via the liner lock, but opens quickly with either hand thanks to the thumb rest and dual thumb studs. Other features include a stainless pocket clip and a lanyard hole. The knife weighs 2.8 ounces and carries a limited lifetime warranty.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Impressed
Absolutely worth the money. Comes pretty sharp and is very compact and beat my expectations. I know there are many comments saying similar things, but I have 6-10 folding knives and if I put them on display no one would know that this knife is the cheapest. Its very good looking and although I have no used it for much utility yet (no metal liners to keep weight and cost down), I think for 95% this will be more knife than they will ever need. I'm not trying to oversell this thing, but we all take some gambles on "closeouts" or "clearance" items and I really think you will be impressed and happy with your purchase.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - great knife!
Awesome knife nice and sharp and good for cutting.Just had a little trouble with the blade lock but other than that it's a great knife. I recommend for any body who likes being outside!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Smith & Wesson Tanto Blade
The blade looks and feels as expected. The blade and handle quality are both quite good for the price. The one real gripe I have is that if the blade is opened too quickly/hard, due to the liner lock being thin, it can slip past the back of the blade between the blade and the other handle wall and get stuck.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Poorly designed locking mechanism - safety issue, pointless warranty
After using the knife for a couple of weeks, I noticed that the blade can partially close even when the locking mechanism is engaged. This happens because the locking bar is pretty thin and because the blade can move a bit against the handle even when locked. Probably some of screws holding the knife together become loose. This is a very serious safety issue. In summary, the knife is poorly designed and cheaply implemented.

It is too late to return the knife to the Amazon. The manufacturer's warranty is no help either - taking into account the $6.95 for the return freight and the hassle of shipping it to the manufacturer, it is cheaper to buy the knife anew (not that I would do that either).

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Poor locking mechanism design, worthless warranty
The knife can be partially closed even when the locking mechanism is engaged. This could happen because there is too much play in the blade position when it is opened and locked, and because the locking spring is just too thin. I am not sure if the knife I got is defective per se - it looks that the locking mechanism is poorly designed.

The limited lifetime warranty is not particularly useful, because it requires the return shipping of $6.95. Adding to that the hassle of shipping the knife to the manufacturer, and given the current price of the knife (~10) it is easier to buy another knife instead of using the warranty.
