I bought this for my and my wife's room at first, and now it is in our son's room (since his three-year-old Honeywell humidifier finally wore out).
There is enough water in both tanks to last for 16 hours in the dry air of Colorado.
There was a noise issue at first until I took out an upside down funnel shaped piece that sits over the boiling pan. As near as I can tell it wasn't serving any purpose other than to make the humidifier noisy as it is still boiling the same amount of water. Now it bubble continuously at a much lower noise level instead of the "pulsing" and loud boiling noise it was making before.
This humidifier is very easy to clean, the easiest of the four humidifiers we've owned over the last six years.
I plan on buying another one as soon as I can afford it (from Bed Bath and Beyond where the price is $100).
I highly recommend this humidifier.

Recently bought this product; after keeping it on highest level for over 3 days the humidity levels were only at 20%. The tanks were draining and being refilled by me, steam coming out but no change in humidity. After having dealt with company's rude customer service rep; returned this item back to the store. Wasted unnecessary electric energy for days as well as my time going back and forth to the store to purchase/ return item and cab fare. Although the noise from the unit did not bother me (it does make a boiling, bubbling noise) as it did some others in the prior post; the fact that it did not even increase the humidity level coupled with rude customer service did not make me want to get another unit from the same manufacturer. Seems like there aren't a heck lot of steam vaporizers in the market place that are actually good and energy efficient; and with ultra sonic one has to deal with "white ash" being spewed out and being inhaled if one has high mineral content in tap water, as it does in NYC.

I work for Kaz, the manufacturer of this product. I can assure you that this model has an auto shut off. Every warm mist humidifier we make does. That includes the Enviracaire, Honeywell, Vicks, Duracraft, and Slantfin brand names.
Although the light stays on, when the unit runs out of water, it stops heating, and a refill light comes on. There is no danger in letting it run out of water.

I recently picked this unit up at Bed and Bath where it was $99.00. With a 20% coupon the price was $80 (so comparison shop!) It's easy to use and seems to work well. I agree with other reviewers about the noise level (loud like a tea kettle boiling), but I use this unit in the living room area so sleeping is not an issue. Having the 2 separate water reservoirs to fill is much easier, weight-wise, as I previously had another humidifier which had one large water reservoir and it was very heavy when full. The unit comes apart quite easily for cleaning and since frequent cleaning is recommended (I usually do it 1x per week, not daily) this is a definite plus. Additionally, one only needs to use vinegar to clean the inside reservoir, which is a lot cheaper than having to buy some kind of "special" cleaning solution. My one complaint is that it doesn't, but should, have an automatic shut off when both tanks are empty.I have to remember to turn the unit off when I leave the house. My previous humidifiers all had this auto turn off; seems like every humidifier should.

I purchased the EWM-220 2 years ago and can truly say that it is still functioning great. With just a little care in cleaning the unit, it will last for many years unlike all the other brands that I had purchased in the past. As far as noise, if a little bubbling sound bothers you, then maybe you have too much time on your hands to complain. I'm sold on this unit and would recommend it to anyone.
