while this product works, it did not extend the battery life as long as I was expecting. I have upgraded the unit to use a CF card instead of the Microdrive and I should have gotten more time that way. I will try another and see how well it works.

My LifeDrive has been in reliable, daily service for 4 years so I knew the battery's days were numbered - I'd already seen less capacity between charges. When the device suddenly quit on a recent trip I was afraid it might be something more serious since it wouldn't reset even after days on the charger. Glad to find this replacement battery since Palm tries _very_ hard to make you believe it's not possible.
It -does- take a "special" tool (T-5 Torx - not that special) to open the LifeDrive but it's INCLUDED with the battery!
They didn't come with instructions but I found the process documented and a nice instructional video after a 10-second Google search ("replace LifeDrive battery").
I had the replacement battery installed and my LifeDrive back on the air in 10 minutes. As a nice plus, it has improved capacity (mAh rating) over the original.
From dead to better-than-new for $10. Can't beat that.

The LifeDrive is a piece of junk. Give up - don't waste your money. You will need to buy a special tool to change the battery if you insist on wasting your money.
