Twister was a mega-million-dollar blockbuster--helmed by a director (Dutchman Jan de Bont) hot off another scorcher hit (Speed)--that flaunted state-of-the-art digital effects and featured a popular leading actress (Helen Hunt) who would win an Academy Award for her next film (As Good As It Gets). But ask anybody who's seen it and they'll tell you who the real star of Twister is: the cow. Not to give anything away, but the cow is one of those inspired little touches (like, say, Bronson Pinchot's career-making cameo in Beverly Hills Cop) that adds a touch of personality to a gigantic Hollywood production. The story is blown out the window after an impressive prologue in which Hunt's character, as a little girl, witnesses her daddy being sucked into a tornado. Basically, Hunt and Bill Paxton are thrill-seeking meteorologists chasing twisters in order to study them (and help warn people of them, of course) with a new technology they've developed. Rating:  - HD DVD Twister - Incredible!!!
OMG this HD DVD is amazing - The HD DVD version is flawless on a level of George Lucas technology. I am still sad that the HD DVD did not get the support as it is so special.
Twister should be shown on HD DVD at the CES show to show this -- Lets hope Europe makes more movies so we can fight over the imports ;)

The HD DVD version was more than the Blu Ray - It ended up like an iMax experience - I only wish Bee Movie would make a comeback here.

Rating:  - Twists your ears, not your eyes
Twister made an impression on me when I saw or rather heard the violent sounds of nature in the cinema. Fortunately, that immerse audio experience has been well captured by the blu-ray movie. The image was dated and perhaps could have used some polishing up. They are still chasing storms, but the storm enters your living room.

I love this movie; I had been waiting for it to come out on HD DVD since I first heard high definition DVDs existed.

So I knew I'd love Twister.
The story?
What story?
We went to see the FX and the flying cows.
The fx are great, they'd be even better now.
The cast is annoying but passable.
The summer time scenes with them driving down the deserted country roads are so pretty and fun to watch.
The twisters themselves look pretty good, but considering they're driving right next to one and there's no wind???
Um..........not realistic.
I've never seen one for real and I think Twister is as close as I want to get to the real thing.
Then again, we have a team of tornado chasers called "The Twister Sisters" two sisters that take people out tornado hunting.
Maybe if I ever get a month vacation from work, I'll hit the road with them.
It's either that or sit at home watching Cheers reruns.
Oh yeah, the movie.
