At the heart of the 3D system is a multipurpose, modular exercise platform with a balance ball surface in the middle. The platform serves as an exercise base by itself, but also attaches to an included balance bar and adjustable resistance tubing to give you even more workout flexibility. The balance bar makes the 3D System more accessible to beginners, but also encourages seasoned Bosu users to create a more varied and versatile workout program. The system also includes a workout program on DVD. What's in the Box? BOSU balance trainer, balance bar, adjustable resistance tubing, air pump, Total Body Blast workout DVD, owner's manual About BOSU Invented by David Weck, the BOSU Balance Trainer debuted in 2000 and quickly became one of the most successful fitness training products on the market. Originally, the name "BOSU" was an acronym for Both Sides Up. It meant that the BOSU Balance Trainer could be used on either side, the dome or the platform. Today, the term BOSU has evolved beyond the product to now mean Both Sides Utilized, a mindful approach to exercise that is a step beyond traditional training. This clarity of who BOSU is and what they want to offer inspired the development of additional BOSU products and programming, all of which are grounded in exercise science and proven in real-life application. BOSU Training is about expanding movement capabilities, reshaping bodies, and strengthening minds. It's about inserting thought into movement, being physically involved, and also being present and fully engaged in the training process. BOSU's products are known industry-wide for training balance, enhancing flexibility, and delivering killer cardio workouts. They have an unprecedented reputation for building strength and fine tuning skills for sport. But on their own, BOSU products are just molded plastic, weighted rubber, and stability balls with secret filling. You have to engage them in order to bring them to life! So, beyond their products, BOSU offers a system of mindful action, intentional movement, and smart science that produces results. The BOSU training approach makes certain that when you get on the BOSU Balance Trainer or move with the BOSU Ballast Ball, you will get everything from a feel-good, get-fit, no-regrets training tool. Even more than that, you get an intelligent training method that transcends any piece of fitness equipment. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Excellent piece of workout equipment, no problem putting it togetherI was cynical of the busu products (partly because I was afraid I'd fall off - I am a klutz so I hope the balance work will help), but got this one because of the balance bar and a great price on it. First, several reviews have complained about it being difficult to put together. I assembled it while watching a movie (so it doesn't take a lot of concentration) and I had no difficulties. If you follow the directions about the order to put the bolts in, its straight forward. Second, the workouts are amazing. I did not realize how many muscles it takes to stay balanced but the workout is great. I really like the workout DVDs that are included. I used them a couple of times and then ad lib while watching TV. But the exercises not only give you a good work out and help with your balance, but they also help stretch your muscles - I come away from a workout on this much looser than any other workout. Rating: - Quality control a little offI have put together more than a fair share of "assembly required" items and this one is worse than most. They are all maddening, but this is just plain poor quality control. Several of the parts did not align correctly...making the bolts difficult or impossible to tighten. And two of the allen bolts wouldn't go in at all and three would not tighten completely...All on the supports. The BOSU itself seems pretty solid, the videos give some good workout ideas and fortunately I am not big or big on leaning on the supports. I purchased the set mainly for the BOSU and the video's, so I guess I got my money's worth. But if you need the support, I'd skip this product or be prepared to do a little tinkering. I'd also skip it if you have no patience for things that don't fit right the first time. Rating: - Love itIt's a great package. Assembly wasn't hard at all, and there are a lot of workout DVDs included. It's surprising how intense the workout is - I did the first cardio workout today and my heart was pounding after 15 minutes (in a good way). Perfect for anyone who wants to work out but isn't a fan of gyms, especially in the winter when it's no fun to jog or bike outside. One drawback - it's not all that easy to store. I had hoped the 3D system would fold down or something similar to store away quickly, but that's not the case. You can take off the top handles easily, but you'd still need a relatively large space to store the entire thing in. So, you may end up just leaving it fully assembled wherever you put it together. It's not an eyesore exactly, but it'd be nice to have it disassemble a bit so it could fit under a bed or in a small space. Overall, though, it's a very good product and I think I'll get more than my money's worth out of it in exercise. Rating: - Surprisingly flimsyWow. We got this from Amazon today and after about an hour cursing at the stupid screws, we finally got it all assembled except for one of the screws that cross-threaded and simply wouldn't work. Also, there doesn't appear to be a plug for the air valve in the ball thing. So, we picked up the base to move it from the living room to the family room, where I wanted to keep it, and the handles are wobbling all over the place. I stood in the center of the base (without the ball thing on it) and held on and the handles rattled and felt like they are going to fall off. We are going to send this back. Rating: - good product W/ alignment assembly problemAfter laying out all the nuts and bolts and parts I baegan the assembly process as spelled out by the handy manual. Everything was fine until the base assembly wherein the base holes(pre drilled)were off a fraction of an inch in relation to the ball platform holes making it impossible to align the supplied nuts and bolts without some extra drilling and "gerry rigging" to join the two pieces together. This problem has occured several times in my life with other assembly products and only happened when dealing with products manufactured outside the U.S. I was expecting more from BOSU as the final product seems to be quite good in spite of aformentioned problem. |
