I've owned this cam for less than a year (since May) and am returning it. Why?
1) Rarely does it take color photos or video, mostly B/W. You need full sun to get color.
2) The video option seems to be stuck at 5s rather than 15s even though I've tried multiple times to set it.
3) The LED display is now unreadable. I thought it was the batteries but fresh ones didn't fix the problem.
4) Poor design
- Weatherproofing is questionable; this is an outdoor camera right? How do damn earwigs get inside the cam.
- Flimsy plastic battery holder that seems on the verge of breaking due to stress
- Difficult to access memory card unless you have small fingers
- Have to ensure built in memory is erased before using a memory card
- Delay in taking multiple pictures; can only be set to 1 minute. I'd like more shots of the coyotes please!
- Seems to be a delay in taking the first shot.
- Trigger range is much less than quoted
Maybe this was a bad apple in the bunch; design is still poor.

I have owned my Moultrie I-40 infrared Camera for about one month. I have had great success and I am happy with the product. Of course there are a few issues with the Camera that will need to be addressed. I have built my own box to hang and secure my trail camera. Because we all know that the strap system that is used to secure the camera to the tree or post is cheaply built. I have read that the SD slot is hard to remove and install a new card. Yes this is also true for all of us with large fingers. It is a good idea to carry a needle nose plier with you on cold mornings when wearing gloves. Also when you set the camera up you well need to have away to slow the deer down. It takes about 3 seconds for the shutter speed. So if you have a bucket of apples or grain this works well. Make sure your State regulations allow it. All in all it takes great pictures day and night and the battery life seems to be holding. I am moving the trail cam to a new location and will add more comments after the Rut. The weather will be turning cold in the north so I'll see just how well the I-40 holds up to below freezing temps.

MOULTRIE I40 WORKS GREAT DAY & NIGHT. IHAVE TWO OF THESE NOW & WILL BUY ANOTHER WHEN MY CHEAPER CAMERAS GO BAD. EASY TO OPERATE, JUST A LITTLEBIT BOTHERSOME GETTING TO THE MEMORY CARD. A TIGHT SPOT FOR BIG FINGERS.A PAIR OF TWEESERS WORKS GREAT FOR REMOVING CARD WITHOUT OPENING BATTERY DOOR.
