Amazon.com: Smart, sleek, and more than a little wicked, the Golden Globe-winning series Damages proves that legal programs don't have to follow a well-worn formula in order to prove completely addictive. In fact, the show (from Todd and Glenn Kessler and Daniel Zelman, whose credits include The Sopranos) steers clear from nearly all courtroom drama clichés over the course of its 13 episodes, and hews closer to classic film noir with the slowly-spun web of deceit that is woven around fresh-scrubbed lawyer Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne). After joining the legal firm headed by uber-powerful litigator Patty Hewes (Glenn Close, who won a Golden Globe for her performance), Parsons lands a career-making case--a class-action lawsuit against millionaire Arthur Frobisher (Golden Globe nominee Ted Danson)--but discovers that digging deeply into the case not only reveals layers of corruption, cover-up, and potential scandal, but places her own life in jeopardy as well. Smart, mature writing and note-perfect performances, most notably by Danson as the perverse and complex Frobisher, but also by Tate Donovan, Zeliko Ivanek, Peter Facinelli, Philip Bosco and Peter Reigert, make Damages a genuine pleasure for law and mystery show fans, but also those craving a challenging series that delivers water cooler chat material in every episode. The three-disc set includes all 13 episodes as well as deleted scenes; among the featured extras are two choice commentaries, one with Close, the Kesslers and Zelman, and the other with Ivanek and the creators, both of which are chock-full of production and technical insights. A 30-minute making-of featurette, discussions about the characters by the creators, and a guide to class-action lawsuits rounds out the fine supplemental features. --Paul Gaita

Rating: - One of the best shows on television.
Damages is a complex tale of lies, deceit, and misdirection that revolves around a hard driving owner of a prestigious law firm, played by Glen Close), a ruthless businessman, (played by Ted Danson), and a myriad of lesser known supporting actors. To say the plot is intricate would grossly understate the matter, but once the viewer reaches the understanding that the main theme is "trust no-one!" It becomes a roller coaster of plot twists that keep right on coming until the closing scene.
Rating: - "Trust No One"
I never thought I would hear that phrase without it referred in seriousness or parody to the X-files. While this is a very short season (13 episodes), each episode is connected. There are no "stand alone" episodes. Everything is connected to the plot's unbelievable finale. The two part narration, 6 months ago and the present is a wonderful storytelling tool which opens up a tiny window into how 6 months ago became now. The writing, the acting are far above typical TV fare. What I really liked was how even the evil characters had a heart to them such as Ted Danson and Glenn Close's characters. What well-rounded and effective people. The thick web of lies and deceit reminded me of Twin Peaks minus the cheerful FBI Agent. There are no cheerful people in this drama. Enjoy! I think the current price is a bit high, though for only 13 episodes.
Rating: - DAMAGE-Brilliant law drama and great performances !!
when i saw this show damage i said to myself at first i didnt think that this show would have me glue but it did. i was so excited to watch the next episode that i couldnt take my eyes away from this show. i have to say that this was a new york story if you are a nyer than you will love the new york scenes but for the most part watching glenn close in this performance is amazing. she is the star of the show. dont get me wrong there are other great performances like ted danson who gives a chilling performance in this role as well. what i love about this show is the plot twists you never know who was going to get killed in this show if this show did get canceled then that is a disappointment but if you love law drama and want to see brilliant performances especially a well deserved emmy performance by glenn close then check this one out!
Rating: - Best Show on TV!
I found this show by accident on FX and became addicted. When it was over, so many people that I knew hadn't heard of it, so I bought the DVD so I could share it before the show starts again in January 2009. If you love a good mystery and love to be left sitting on the edge of your chair, this is the show for you!
Rating: - Addictive, entertaining, and unique
This show does for the courtroom TV genre what "The Shield" did for cop shows. That is, it knocks you off balance, jumbles things around in a soup of moral ambiguity, and just really pumps new life into a tired genre. You won't be sure who (or if there is one) the protagonist is throughout the whole season. Glenn Close is her usual intimidating self, Zeljko Ivanek plays a star litigator, Tate Donovan his counterpart, and of course TED DANSON is amazing as the alternately shocking and hilarious Arthur Frobisher. At 19.99, this is a steal, consdering people used to line up to pay 100 bucks for 12 episodes of shows like the Sopranos...
