Gamo Whisper VH Customer Reviews Average Rating: Rating: - Surprised Customer For weeks I have been looking at all the options of the Gamo line. I kept coming back to the Whisper VH. I placed my order on 22 Nov.and much to my surprise when I got home from work today, 24 Nov. it was waithing for me. I was like a kid in a toy store. I couldn't wait to get the box open. I was a little worried because I had read some reviews that stated how much trouble it was to put it all together. Every thing went together with out a problem. I sure am glad I read all the reviews. Once out of the box I was amazed at the look and feel of the gun. It deffinitely isn't the kind of air gun I remember as a kid. This this is deffinitely not a toy. Although it was cold and raining out I had to toss a few rounds down range. Luckily I have a covered patio and nothing but woods behind the house. I was worried about noise. I had read conflicting reviews. I have to disagree with all those that talked of how noisy it was. I did hear a slight crack as I fired the first round. Nothing like the noise people had complained about in the reviews. I'm sure my neighbors on both sides never heard a thing. My first round hit dead center and about 3 inches low with no sight adjustment at all. I mounted the scope and was shooting about a 3 inch group at 35 yards with no adjustment. I can't wait for the weather to clear so I can really spend time getting everything set up. I have a feeling I am going to be a very satisfied customer. You can look forward to another review soon. Thanks to Gamo for such a great gun and thanks to Amazon for such great and fast service. Rating: - Pellet Gun Gamo gun is excelent, lots of power, Iws to get a pack of pba amo with gun but didn't. Rating: - Jammed after 10 shots After sighting the scope this pellet rifle was very accurate at 200 feet but it jammed after 10 shots and had to be returned. The GAMO Silent Cat was coincidentally released that week so I bought it instead. I've shot the Silent Cat for several months with no problems - it is dead on accurate - invasive nuisance squirrels have vacated the premises. The Silent Cat is slightly shorter and lighter than the Whisper which makes the Silent Cat easier to handle. Comparing the price points of the two guns to their performance the Silent Cat is a much better buy. The scopes included with the guns performed equally well. The laser sight included with the Whisper is useless - I could not adjust it to make it accurate. Rating: - impressive Nice gun. It took a bit of assembly and time to sight in the scope and then the laser dot, but the first shot out of the box went through a can and then a piece of 3/8" plywood behind it...from 30 yards. I sighted it in for about 40 yards and shot several very tight groups with the PBA ammo. I will have no problem hitting a squirrel or partridge in the head. The quality is very nice... not SUPERB, but good for the money. A very handsome weapon. Its also quite long... several inches longer than my .35 Remington. Looks like adding a strap could be tough because of the break barrel cocking and loading. One shot at a time, but accurate enough to only need one shot. I expected a loud gun with the PBA ammo, but the people that reviewed it as loud must have bat ears or something, because it's very quiet. There is a "crack" sound, but it's quite muffled and very different from the report of a .22 rifle. If the neighbors think this is loud, then they lead a sheltered life and probably complain of birds chirping... as stated, this is NOT a toy and should only be handled by those trained in firearms. This gun could kill at close range. The PBA ammo breaks up into a great deal of small, but potentially lethal shrapnel. If it can go through a chunk of plywood at 30 yards, then it can probably finds it way to some organs you might want to keep intact. This aint no Red Ryder and it will do a heck of a lot more than put your eye out ;-) Rating: - Awesome new toy for husband My husband had been talking about wanting to get a pellet gun to shoot groundhogs on our rural property.
