Amazon.com:
All groovy things must come to an end, and the season-eight DVD set marks the conclusion of the popular retro/teen comedy That '70s Show with a fair amount of nostalgic extras to help ease the blow for fans. Though the producers were clearly angling to extend the program's lifespan with the introduction of new characters, most notably Josh Meyers as new kid Randy, That '70 Show had clearly run its course by season eight. It simply couldn't overcome the loss of key players Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher (who appears in only a handful of episodes here)--the show's real heart and humor--despite stalwart support by Danny Masterson and Wilmer Valderrama (and the unbeatable duo of Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp), and the gags feel unfocused and cartoonish. Still, there are amusing episodes to be found throughout the set, most notably 'You're My Best Friend' (Hyde has a disastrous bachelor party prior to his even more horrible marriage to stripper Samantha), 'My Fairy King' (Jackie discovers her feelings for Fez), and the finale, which ushers the gang into the 1980s with an agreeable touch of sentiment. Supplemental features fall in line with all the previous '70s Show sets; director David Trainer provides commentary on four episodes, including the finale, while co-star Tommy Chong and Meyers get their own 'Flashback' retrospectives to discuss their time on the series. Trainer reappears to provide a tour of two of the series' most famous sets: the Foreman's house and the water tower, while 'Season 8 in 8 Minutes' is another extraneous montage of clips. The set's best extra--and perhaps the most valuable for series fans--is the 25-minute That '70s Show Through the Years: A Retrospective, which provides interviews with the main cast members culled from the show's entire network run. -- Paul Gaita

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A Not So Groovy Final Season
I will agree with what others have said and that season 8 of That 70's Show was definintly the weakest of the shows run. With the loss of its two big characters, the addition of one lousy character, and nearly seven seasons of almost perfection, the show had finally run its course.

Now that's not to say the season was a complete failure. There are a few very funny episodes scattered through out, like when Jacki goes to work for a popular talk show hostess (played by 70's icon Mary Tyler Moore), Hyde getting married to a stripper, and a few others as well. So it wasn't like the season was an almost complete loss.

And I will say this, when it came time for the producers to end the show, they definintly did it right. The finale really made up for weak season, with plot elements succesfully tied up, all the characters showing up, and of course, the heart and humor was there, all without the episode feeling overstuffed and convulted. In fact, I would go as far as to rank the series finale as one of the best in recent television.

For those who have loved the season, buy the set for the series finale. But if ur not a huge fan, then I suggest you steer clear of the last season and just pick up the first seven.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not Nearly as good as the first 7 seasons, but not entirely a disaster
I bought season 6 and 7 because I hadn't seen any of those episodes..I told myself I was going to avoid season 8 since Topher and Ashton left the show..After Watching Season 7,I needed to watch the last one to see how the show ended..well I was actually surprised it wasn't that bad,the absence of Kelso and Eric was evident, the show wasn't nearly as funny and the introduction of "Sam" and "Randy" didn't help and infact hurt the show more, but it was great to see the other cast members together for one last year...a lot of interesting things occured [albeit forced, like Jackie and Hyde being totally over each other within one episode] Eric's final appearance in the series finale episode was very weak and felt pointless..The show clearly lost alot of it's magic, but it's still watchable and with an open mind can provide some laughs.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't be so hard on this season. I just started watching the show and I like it. Was there a problem with this season?

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Funnier then given credit for
Yes, Eric is gone on this season until the last 2 minutes of the last episode but this season was really funny. Fez got better lines, Randy was really funny, Hyde got himself into a new world of marriage (only to end) and Jackie decides she wants to date Fez. I mean come on there was some great stuff in the last season. I loved it and would suggest it to anyone.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not the Best (Contains Spoilers)
Season eight of That '70s Show is the last season for this wonderful series. With Eric and Kelso gone (Kelso stays until the fourth or fifth episode, then moves to Chicago to help raise his daughter Betsy), there is a gap in the characters. This problem is fixed pretty quickly, with Randy and Samantha being featured in the show for quite a bit of this season. The idea of Randy in my opinion was not a great one, it seems as if the writers tried to make us miss Eric and Kelso less by giving Randy some of the qualities that they had. Season eight starts and ends well, but to me the middle 11 or 12 episodes are not as great as the episodes from previous seasons. I would not say that season eight is the best season, but I also would not call it the worst season of That '70s Show. To me Randy was not really a necessary character, I think they should have written him out of the storylines earlier and had Eric come back an episode or two prior to his series finale return. In addition, Randy seemed to lack humor when saying lines that the writers of the scripts thought were funny. The other characters seem as funny as ever, I really think Randy is the only character who seems to lack any sort of humorous side. Aside from the missing characters, new relationships occur. Donna and Randy get together, as well as Fez and Jackie towards the end of the series. In addition, we find out that Hyde has married a stripper (Samantha), which is not one of this season's best plotlines. Some characters have changed a lot ... Read More
