This WMF Taika 18/10 stainless steel flatware features a contemporary flair and is perfect for either a formal table or for everyday use. Unusual proportions merge with our familiar concepts of cutlery. Taika looks as if it has been stretched, extremely slim and graceful (The knife measures 9-1/2 inches in length, while the fork and soup spoon measure 9 inches) The final outcome of this, is the merging of the handle and blade of the knife into one. The formal austerity of the lines is counterbalanced by soft rounded contours at the end of the handle. They give it grace. The proportions are stretched to the extreme, reaching beyond boundaries to establish a link with Asian dining culture. Each piece is highly polished and this 40-piece set configuration includes eight each: knife, dinner fork, salad fork, dinner spoon, and soup spoon.

Might be okay as a minimalist setting for semi-formal occasions but for every day use the extended shapes that give the unique look are likely to be in the way. The knifes are not serrated which is another draw back for everyday use.

WMF is with good reputation of their high quality silverware products. I recently purchase this flatware set and I am very pleased with the quality and the design.

This set was purchased as a gift and I have to say that the quality is very nice. I have never owned any WMF products myself, only knew them by name until now. WMF is one of the leading producers of stainless steel cookware, I knew that, but in some cases the story is better than the truth. With this set that does not seem to be the case. The only knock I have on them is that they are not made in Germany but in China, however, the quality is up to WMF and German standards. As I said already, this set was purchased as a gift but the set I am waiting on right now was purchased for myself. It would not be your everyday flatware but will impress your guests when you have them over for the holidays.
