Set in the 21st century (which predates the story to all of the Alien features), Requiem sends a crippled Predator ship crashing to Earth in a small Colorado town; unbeknownst to the locals, the craft is loaded with H.R. Giger's insectoid monsters, which make quick work of most of the population. As the human cast is slowly whittled to a few hardy (if unmemorable) souls, a Predator warrior also arrives to complicate matters and do battle with the Aliens, as well as a ferocious alien-Predator hybrid (dubbed a Predalien by the sci-fi and horror press). Visual-effects designers and music-video helmers The Strause Brothers (who make their feature directorial debut here) keep the action on frantic throughout, which is wise, since the dialogue and characters are threadbare at best; that should matter little to teenage male viewers, who are inarguably the film's key audience. However,after a few years of waiting a sequal has surfaced that has fans believing the series is finally moving in the right direction.AVP Reqeim brings back the two baddest creatures in sci-fi history to reak havok in a small western town.The plot continues exactly where AVP1 left off.After departing earth the Predators are attacked by a mutant Alien/Predator hybrid born from the bosom of the dead predator from AVP1.After crash landing in the wilderness,the aliens begin reproducing at horrific speed,thanks to the local populace.A lone Predator is sent to clean up the mess,eliminating countless Aliens and all evidence of an invasion.Unlike its predecessor,AVP2 brings tons of R-rated action that fans have come to expect from these creatures,with plenty of fights and relentless action chocked full of guts.A good cast and some decent plot and acting help round out this new and obviously improved AVP adventure.Having returned to its R-rated roots,it's safe to say that the AVP series is back on track and that fans of the series will not be dissapointed by this lastest installment.I thoroughly enjoy this film and I hope you will as well. Without even a pretence of a story-line, "Alien vs Predator 2" is simply a string of gory set scenes about as entertaining to watch as a highway pile-up. I suppose that fans of the classic originals could amuse themselves during the 94 minutes of this movie by trying to count just how many iconic storyboard pages (and even lines of dialog) have been lifted entire and strung together to form this mess. But only if they were really, really, bored... Rating: - Much better merits than the reviews its been given We have two creatures that are mortal enemies going at one another in the most instinctive primeval fashion, one [species] lives, the other dies ["and in either case we lose"]. This is a horror flick, not Shakespear, and the sixth movie featuring ALIEN. Did you expect them to sit down and play chess, or Texas Hold 'Em? After so many followups you have a tendency to be somewhat repetitive, but that's in "the nature of the beast". At least Sigourney Weaver & Lance Henrickson were LEFT OUT! And you knew what to expect with the ending of the prior Alien vs Predator. The only thing non linear was the incubation stage of the hybrid, but maybe more time was elapsed than was perceived. Remember in ALIENS when Ripley said, "...because just one of the things killed my entire crew in just 7 days"? I figured out long ago that an Alien would get loose on a highly populated area and a 'nuke would be needed to take them out. Lo and behold if that is not shown in the first A vs P, and does come to happen in the sequel. While no monster flick will ever win an Oscar for best Movie, the box office receipts and DVD sales reflect the true value of the movie, and by that standard it was a box office hit. I've not heard a sinle person complain about this movie, except HERE. And the same people denigrating this movie are probably the same ones in front of the Boob Tube watching the same sitcoms from the networks every week [or in syndication] without there being $.02 worth of difference between them. It was said ... Read More Rating: - Awful... I'm a HUGE fan of all the Alien films and I enjoyed Alien VS. Predator, but this film was atrocious. The acting was supremely bad and the scene where the aliens burst out of the pregnant woman was absolutely sickening. It turned me off to the point of wanting to vomit. I can handle some blood and gore, but that was just plain wrong. I agree with other reviewers that the entire film was WAY too dark and you could barely see a thing. I guess that was done purposely to disguise this pathetic excuse of a movie. I won't ever watch it again.
