Well i have to say i had the sony reader first then i realized that its not compatible with amazon and you have to sync to your computer every time you get a new book ha what a waste of time and its way more expensive the books and the sony reader so i took it back and got the kindle 2 got to say saves time saved me almost 100 dollars and i just love how slim it is. thank you amazon

I bought the Kindle for my wife's birthday. As a complete techno-phobe and paper book lover she was more than a little dubious. She has now fallen in love with it and took the brave step of bringing it as her only reading material on a recent trip to France. I effortlessly downloaded several newspapers both in Ireland and France. One small criticism is that Amazon are a little slow in bringing some of her favourite authors,e.g Anita Shreve, to their Kindle stock and also they don't show the New York Times or Oprah picks on the main Kindle books page, apart from that I would have no hesitation in recommending the Kindle to Irish customers.

Kindle works out exactly what an e-book reader I'm expecting. Features such as flawless push-based ebook delivery and highly readable screen is excellent. However, there is only a handful of magazine selection available on international contents. I'm bored by magazine contents which is delivered without graphics.

Wonderful for travel. Great e-book device, does what is advertised: gives you portability of reading material, light weight, easy to read. Solves the problem of what to read on long trips or cruises. Downsides: page turning is annoying (screen black for a second). No color screen and can't turn pages sideways for diagrams and maps (on this version). Final con: battery holds charge (without wireless) for about two days, then quickly runs out.

It was worthwhile waiting for this ebook. What was promised in the ad and the video is absolutely true. It is a miracle but it works well and as a result I have purched already more than 20 books at very reasonable prices!. Only negative is that most of the UK bestsellers are not available for Europe yet. So I hope that will change soon. Great tool.
