Product Description: This sturdy MIDI interface cable is self-powered and connects to your computer's USB port. No need for tools or computer disassembly, it's the simplest & most convenient way to connect a keyboard or controller to a computer. Gives you the power to play songs on your keyboard or other controller, then mix and edit them on your home computer/laptop with any sequencing or recording software you have installed & play them back on the built-in synth or an any out-board synth!

It can't be any easier. I got the cable in the mail, plugged it into my midi controller and to my pc, let the computer install and that's it. I use it with guitar pro and piano software. It works great no problems at all. I feel I got a really good deal!

This will not handle SysSX midi dumps. Perhaps they should mention that in their product description or lack thereof. This is a midi cable right? Spend the money and get a cable from a reputable company.

I am quite sure this product will work. Provided you have the other end of the 5 prongs that would ultimately narrow down to one 1/4 inch jack. Since receiving this product today, I have been searching for hours on end to find yet another adapter that this thing can plug into so I can use it in my keyboard which has a SINGLE 1/4 inch jack.. I have called music websites and nobody can help. I have done extensive research and now I will be forced to drive to a Radio shack with this unit in my hand to show the store rep and only pray that this person can figure out what adapter this adapter needs.
I am looking for a Y adapter but the two ends need to accept a prong with 5 pins in it now due to purchasing this item! not only that, but the new additional adapter would need to narrow down into a 1/4 inch jack that will go into a midi jack output for a synthesizer. I cannot locate such adapter now which basically renders this adapter useless.

I had no a problem at all. Except according to instruction I had to plug the cable plug marked "In" to MIDI port marked "Out" and it did not work that way. So I plugged cable's "Out" to MIDI's "Out" and it worked perfectly. Actually it is not a big deal for me as long as it works. It worked with Casio CTK-481 and eMedia MIDI keyboard. No additional drivers was necessary. I just plugged and played. Operation system Windows XP Pro, Music editor: "Kinetic" CakeWalk product. I set in "Audio options" "Latency" as 20 mS. And I did not have any delay AT ALL! HALLELUJAH !
I had (since 2004) USB - MIDI cable made by "M AUDIO" and that one had a big latency until somehow it stopped work (died like old horse or so). But this USB MIDI Cable (unfortunately I do not know the brand name) is work flawlessly.
Earlier I had MIDI/Game-port to Five-pin DIN connector cable. So I had to find and install any controller (sound card or modem) which had a MIDI port because new motherboard mostly do not have one and because it was only the way to avoid big latency or distortion when you trying to find the balance between them.
Finally I can play through USB without any delay.
My guess is only that it probably does not work with some music software such as A73 Piano station even if it recognized in MIDI options or Energy XT 2.5 at least for demo versions. But It does work with CakeWalk "Kinetic" and Acoustica Mixcraft 4.
I highly recommend this cable!

The cable was very cheap. Yet it works with ease. At first there was a delay in the sound transmission, but I learned that it was related to a driver, not the midi interface. So this one's cheap and works. Great way to get going without having to go broke just to start recording with the midi controller.
I tried to change it into 5 stars, but they've made sure you can't do that.
