Editorial Review:
Product Description: One of the most influential bands in music, ranked eighth on the list of the biggest-selling groups in history, Metallica unveils its ninth studio album, Death Magnetic. The band's first album in five years, Death Magnetic is also its first with renowned producer Rick Rubin (Danzig, Slayer, System Of A Down, Slipknot), first with bassist Robert Trujillo, and first on Warner Bros. Heavy and thrashy, unafraid to embrace the band's past yet move into the future.

Rating: - Old school Metallica, ala And justice for all
This album reminds me of And justice for all and brings back the aggressive heavier style Metallica. Overall, it's a decent album. It doesn't sound commercialized like the post Metallica from the black album.
Rating: - glad to see they let hammet back in the band!
this is metallica's best album since the black album. they have brought back the slow intro's for every song and MOST importantly they brought back hammet's solo's. glad to see they ditched longtime producer bob rock. this is old metallica with a new aged twist. granted this album is still slightly watered down, it's still a breath of fresh air. if you expect to hear tracks like you did in ..and justice for all, you will be disapointed. if you approach this album with a open mind you will be pleased! a must have for metallica fans.
Rating: - Out of ideas
I'm wondering what album everyone else is listening to? I have tons of Metallica cds from Master to Reload, Garage Days, S&M. There's very little I don't like on each cd. I do think the music on Death Magnet sounds like the "old" days, Black, etc..but the lyrics? Obviously getting off the drugs and getting some counseling has killed the ability to write lyrics that mean something. Unforgiven III - sailing? What? I think better lyrics would be "I don't have anything to sing about now, but I need the money cuz I used it all on drugs. I know my lyrics stink, just call me unforgiven again, again, oh yeah and again." If there were no words to this cd, I'd probaby enjoy it alot more. I've tried to love it, I've tried to give it a break, but I'm ashamed that I bought it for my son's birthday. I should'a gone with his first choice of the new Disturbed cd.

Thank you Metallica. I think we all know in are hearts this is the true follow up to and Justice For All.
Rating: - This is a review from a lifetime fan (not because of freaking GH)
This CD is a must buy if your a Metallica fan. I bought this like 3 weeks before it came out on amazon and had first day delivery, but just decided to review it now. This CD is more like earlier albums in a way more than St. Anger, Load or Reload. It features some great songs like All nightmare long, The day that never comes, my apocalypse, the unforgiven 3 and many others. Just take my word for it.....this cd won't let you down. (PS I OWN EVERY Metallica CD)
