Amazon.com: A Wuxia adventure out of South Korea, The Legend of the Shadowless Sword is a handsome martial arts epic by Kim Yung-jun (Flying Warriors). The film's simple story allows for exceptionally creative action sequences about every three to four minutes, while simultaneously building a noble tale full of faith, love, and sacrifice. A beautiful female warrior named Yeonsoha (Yoon So-yi) goes in search of the last, living prince of the Balhae dynasty and its kingdom, overrun years before by the Geordan empire. The prince, Jeong Hyeon (Seo Jin Lee), has been in hiding 14 years as a black market trader, concerned primarily for his own safety and deeply cynical about any thought of going back to retrieve his family's throne. Yeonsoha, however, proves persuasive, especially in light of the many attempts on Jeong's life by a gang of assassins. The shady killers are led by a vengeance-seeking Kun (Hyeong Jun-Shin) and his assistant, (Ki-Yong Lee), another sword-wielding babe who gets into plenty of wild skirmishes with Yeonsoha.
The story essentially follows Jeong and Yeonsoha's efforts to get back to a waiting army of Balhae exiles awaiting a king's leadership. As the hours and days pass, Jeong gets in touch with the man he once was, a fearless warrior whose exploits on the battlefield are well-known to Yeonsoha, whose connection to the prince seems mysteriously personal. The film's numerous fight scenes are never redundant, employing all manner of props and ideas for exciting fights. But it's the performances that really hold everything together, the deep if understated emotions and the excitement of watching two mismatched lead characters slowly realize how important they are to one another. --Tom Keogh

Rating: - The Legend of the Shadowless Sword
This was recommended by Xplay. This movie has a great script, and even better action. If you you enjoy great Martial films, you need to see this one. A must watch.
Rating: - Great "flying swordsman" action
The plot works as well as any, and better than some: a lone warrior seeks out the prince in exile, to escort him to his rightful throne. A neat feature is that the warrior is a gorgeous young woman (plenty able to kick gluteals, though), and the prince looks like a slacker. He does OK in his secret identity as fence for stolen goods in some back province, but is that who you want on the throne? That's just the start, though, it gets better - partly when an ill-starred romance develops between prince and commoner.
This features plenty of well-choreographed swordfights, including a few with the equally capable woman on the opposition team. The look of this movie really stands out, though. We couldn't figure out what part of China this might have been placed in. Names sounded different from the more familiar Chinese ones, closer to Thailand, maybe? Then, a few scenes looked more like Silk Road somewhere, possibly towards Tibet - neither of us knows Chinese social geography well enough to be sure. Still, the unusual look of this movie makes it stand out from the pack. If you have an evening to kill, these swordfighters will do a great job of killing it for you.

Rating: - Good Love Story
the fighting scenes are ok. i thought how the camera was angled at times made it hard to watch some of the fight scenes.
this movie reminded me of house of flying daggers, but in reverse roles
but i did enjoy the movie and did make a copy
i thought it was a good love story, my girl cried at the end
it's probably not for those who want hardcore fight scenes, but if you want a good story, i do recommend on watching
i'm tying to put that girl on my myspace page
Rating: - This could be a great movie. If only there was a DUB! Korean-only dialogue is a turn-off.
What dialogue there is was well-delivered. Too bad I don't speak the language and find subtitles distracting. This really does look like a move of slightly epic proportions. I made it part way through before falling asleep (it didn't put me to sleep, I was just tired, will finish watching it later), and it looked quite good!
Great costuming, good acting, colorful, good fight scenes and wuxia martial arts fantasy action.
If there was a dub, I'd probably give it 5 stars. But I have to take away a point for the lack thereof.
It seems like far too many studios are unwilling to include an English track. Quite unfortunate. The Legend of Suriyothai, which I had looked forward to watching, suffered the same issue...
So, if you like the wuxia martial arts genre and asian art-house / martial arts cinema, you'll probably like this movie. Just be forwarned about the need to read your way through it, if it distracts you as it does me.
Rating: - Great DVD
