We have had this humidifier for two years now.
Pros:
It's lasted us for two years
It says that it has warm mist but it's not really that warm - more like room temperature mist but at least, that's better than cold mist
Easy to use
Cons:
I wish that it would just shut off instead of blinking when the water is done
It's a pain to fill up - you have to flip it over and unscrew the cap. The only way to fill it is through the bathtub
It's also a pain to clean - we find ourselves cleaning it at least once a week now
It's not exactly cheap either

I had the humidifier for two years and it worked great until now when the mist volume is greatly reduced. Tried new filter and cleaned the oscillator and noticed that the oscillator disc coating is peeling away and needs to be replaced. The problem is that Venta Sonic is based in Germany and outsources the technical and warranty support to A&B distribution. I called and spoke to different reps and they were both useless. Venta Sonic does not have any replacement parts except for the filter and tank. If anything else breaks or needs replacement you are out of luck. Stay away from this company.

I purchased (2) Venta 207 humidifiers from Ace Photo Digital, and I experienced difficult times on a defective humidifier, as follows:
1. One of humidifier delivered to me without manuals and warranty card. Definitely it is an open box item or returned item. I used this humidifier for (2) nights only and it was out of order.
2. The manuals provided me with (2) contact telephone numbers for customer services. I kept calling for (3) days, nobody took the call. I left message and nobody replied to me, either. Also, the manuals provided a web site; but it does not exist at all.
3. In the Specs. it says that the humidifier will cover 600 SF, which is untrue. The vapor just goes up for 6" high to cover 6 SF only, and droped down to the floor and condensed into water. So I have to cover the wood floor with a plastic sheet.
4. I sent email to the seller to request for return, and the seller replied to me timely with an unfair return policy: "The returned item has to be unopened and unused and in the original package, and the return has to be done within 14 days after purchase". Otherwise, either they will send the item back to you, or charge you 25% of purchase price for restocking. Without opening the box to use it how can buyers know if it works or not?! So I sent email to the seller for negotiation, and they never replied to me.
5. Two weeks after I I sent email to customer service, Mr. Michael, customer service specialist called me and kindly advised me that he would help me resolve the issue. I accepted his offer and returned one humidifier with full refund. Thank you Mike.

Over the past few years I've tried every high-end humidifier on the market, and in short...this one is the best of the worst. The fact is there simply are no humidifiers in production that don't have some of the typical humidifier problems...this one just has fewer of them.
White dust...the death knoll for sensitive electronic equipment, and while Venta says there should be "little" white dust, I have to disagree. I have three of these units and when they're running every piece of black plastic in my house is covered with white dust. Plasma and LCD TVs often have a small fan inside them for suck in outside air to cool components and then blow it back out a different opening. I know from expensive experience that white dust can ruin these items.
Forget the humidity percentage gauge on these units...they aren't even close to accurate. I recommend a good hydrometer if you need to know your accurate humidity levels.
On the good side, these are the easiest to maintain and clean of any humidifiers I've tried. They MUST be cleaned weekly when in use, but it's only a 5-minute job.

I bought my VS207 refurbished (elsewhere) and was quite impressed. I'd read the reviews about the humidistat being inaccurate, but especially for the refub price I decided to try it. I'm glad I did!
Yes, the humidity reading is off, but I also bought a Western Caliber III hunmidity/temp meter (about $15) to compare it to (then use later in my crawlspace where dampness is an issue) and found that the humidifier's humidity reading is off by 10%....whether the current humidity is low or high, it remains off by the same amount, therefore the guage is perfectly usable to me since I just add 10 to whatever it says. (Plus, what really matters is that you can set it to whatever is comfortable, regardless of what the number says, and it will maintain that level.)
Actually, I liked it so much that I just bought another unit since we have another baby on the way, and that unit's humidity display is dead-on accurate, so it seems like it's probably just a lack of proper factory calibration that makes it vary so much from unit to unit.
Vapor output is very good, and so quiet that I have to look for the vapor to believe it is actually running. I use it at the medium setting so the level in the room stays more constant and there is less cycling on/off. (High seems to raise it too quickly and causes it to cycle on/off more, but also, I have it in a fairly small bedroom.)
The "warm" setting is almost a joke (barely noticable if you feel the vapor coming out), but I did try it one evening and it did seem like the moister didn't make the room feel as cool as it would have otherwise. I'll probably rarely use the warm setting except maybe on very chilly nights.
I love the large tank. I don't have a problem with the handle position, but I can see how some people might....but if it's too awkward/heavy for you, just fill it less so it is lighter and easier to flip back over.
