I received the ordered DVD's in the mail in 2 or 3 days. Everything was exactly as described in the catalog. I installed the new version on an old hard drive as a test. All went as expected and I then installed it to my working computer. Operating system installs in about 20 minutes. Tons of additional programs can then be downloaded as needed. I was really impressed with Gambas2, a Visual Basic like programing application. It was worth the price to have an installable DVD and all the documentation as opposed to having to download the CD in about 1 hour if needed. I was satisfied and I recommend this to anyone who is thinking of trying out Linux operating systems.

This is a really good operating system. I have an older computer (500 Mhz with only 384 Mb of Ram), put the disk in my CD drive and started the computer up. Other than answering yes or no a couple of times it did a beautiful load with everything recognized. I love Openoffice and Konquerer browser. I could immediately print an Excel spreadsheet (no fights over the printer driver). When I hot-plugged my USB memory stick, it immediately recognized it. A click and I was surfing the net. This is a full-fledged system with wonderfully powerful and useful programs. I'ved worked on PC's and Mac's, so this is new to me ... but I love it!

UPDATE: version 8.10 (released on October 30, 2008) is already available:
Kubuntu Ubuntu Ver. 8.10 and Linux Training Library 2DVD+CD
I have used various flavors of Linux in the past. Rather than update to
something newer than W2K, I looked at switching to Linux for personal use.
Ubuntu and Kubuntu have new 8.04 distribution polished well enough for
family use. My kids have no problem using the Ubuntu's Gnome desktop.
Running on a HP desktop, with a 3 GHz P4 and 512 MB RAM, it's running
circles around Win2K on the same machine. XP would be even slower, and
Vista requires at least another 512 MB of RAM just to meet its minimum
requirements. Ubuntu immediately was able to read Windows volumes, access
the local network, browse shared directories and print to devices connected
to other systems running Windows. Open-Office reads my existing Microsoft
documents and is able to write docs as well, for sharing with others.
Online support has been excellent. I haven't had to do more than check the
online help sections (help.ubuntu.com) to get my answers quickly. Very well
done! The included library is full of nice books for learning. Highly
recommended!

Download Ubuntu from the web. It fits onto a CD. From there you can download more software with Ubuntu's simple interface. I am not new to Linux. I've been using it for years. It was time for me to try a new distribution. I think this was a command line server version of Ubuntu. When I was finished with the install, I did not get any GUI. I also wasn't sure if I got a 32 bit version (probably what it was) or 64 bit. I started over by downloading the latest off the web (64 bit).

It is great set of ubuntu and kubuntu and the library is top notch. I first installed ubuntu, then decided to try kubuntu and came across this set. I use ubuntu for second year and it is by far my most loved Linux distro. Now I try out kubuntu that also great but different. This particular one comes with complete training library for all levels of users! Here's smooth installation and hour of fun! Awesome! If one day you decide to pass exam, this set provides training books and includes discount for an exam. Great deal and VERY fast delivery!
