I have owned this fan for three years and it works perfectly. When the stove temperature gets above 100F degrees it automatically begins working. The hotter the stove, the faster the fan spins. The technology which converts heat to electrical energy is fascinating. No power cords or batteries. Great fun and practical to send warm air into the room.

Some think this fan is a novelty, and while it IS novel, it is also exactly what we needed for our situation. We have a tiny A-frame cottage in the mountains. The small wood-burning stove is situated in the kitchen area, well away from the sitting area where we tend to feel cold. Not only that, but it directs the heat toward the refrigerator, which is only a few feet away. Since purchasing this fan and having it blow across the top of the stove toward the sitting area, we enjoy more warmth where we want it and the refrigerator runs less, so our power bills are lower. We also have an oil-filled electric heater which gets much less use since we got the Ecofan, further lowering our power bills.
I think this fan is a clever design. I love that it runs off the heat of the stove and that it's SILENT. Great invention! Well worth owning!

As soon as the wood stove starts producing heat this fan starts a spinning! It moves the air well especially for our big cabin and maintains a comfortable temperature. Uses no electricity and is definitely worth the investment!

We bought this fan for our mountain cabin in Colorado. At 9'500 feet with nothing but a wood stove to heat a 1600 sqft cabin, this fan has made a significant difference in getting warmth to the back of the cabin. Previously, the cabin would be very warm near the stove and cold in the far reaches. The fan has spread the heat so the whole cabin now feels warm. It's a great conversation piece too.

I was sceptical from everything I read about these fans and still am. My husband thinks it's great...I can't tell if it makes a difference or not. But it looks cool.
