Product Description: THIS BLU-RAY SURROUND MUSIC DISC DELIVERS AN AMAZING ACOUSTIC REALITY EXPERIENCE THROUGH PLAYSTATION 3 (LPCM OUTPUT) OR BLU-RAY PLAYER WITH DTS-HD MASTER AUDIO OUTPUT CONNECTED THROUGH 1.3 HDMI CABLE WITH DTS-HD MASTER AUDIO CAPABLE RECIVER. THE FULL RANGE 7.1 (6.1;5.1) SURROUND SPEAKER SET-UP IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR FULL PERCEPTION OF ACOUSTIC REALITY AND LOW FREQUENCY CHANNEL (LFE) THAT IS VERY CRITICAL FOR THIS RECORD. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS RECORD WAS ORIGINALLY PRODUCED FOR 5.1 AND PRESENTED FOR 7.1 SURROUND SOUND REPRODUCTION TO PROVIDE YOU WITH UNIQUE ACOUSTIC REALITY EXPERIENCE.

Rating: - Mussorgsky Blu-ray on Playstation 3 review.
The Stokowski orchestrations quite different from Ravel's and more Russian and true to the original, will blow you off the room.
The obvious reason for recording this repertoire all over again is to release the music in 7.1 high definition surround sound, and in this respect I have to say that this disc sounds outstanding. Rock-solid bass, brilliant but never shrill treble, excellent internal balances, and an incredibly natural multichannel acoustic make this the obvious choice if you want to hear these pieces with your Blu-ray player or Playstation 3.
I recommend that you make sure that your PS3 firmware is up-to-date if you haven't already done so. Connect it via HDMI to your receiver. Set the PS3 to output via LPCM. Then forget about it. The PS3 will decoded all current codecs both lossy and lossless. There is no longer any need for your receiver to decode anything. DTS-HD Master Audio is literally bit-for-bit identical to the studio master recording and music truly come to life. Happily, the relatively high-level engineering sounds excellent even on less expensive systems, though on high-end equipment you'll have your neighbors begging for mercy or coming over to wallow in the spectacle. In sum a very enjoyable disc, on both musical and sonic grounds.
Rating: - Sumptuous Sound
I purchased this and the Tchaikovsky Acoustic Reality discs. My Panasonic player rejected the discs with a "not supported" message, but my Sony BDP-S500 player plays them happily.
At this stage, I don't have a receiver that decodes the HD stream, but the DTS-ES stream sounds fine. I select THX mode to spread out the surround from 5.1 to 7.1. The result is great - very smooth silken sound with a terrific surround ambience.
I'm happy to keep supporting this label, although the leaflet supplied with the disc is rather primitive (to say the least).

Waited a long time for the product. When it finally arrived, it would not play in any of three Bluray players. Returned it and replacement still would not play.
