This flashlight gives off an amazing amount of light for its small size. It is also solidly constructed.

I was looking for a convenient yet powerful Flashlight. I use it to take walks in the morning and I need to see when critters are nearby. the AA option is great. It has lasted way longer then the suggested 2 hrs - Which made me question the 5 watts - so I replaced batteries with Lithium AA by energizer and it was way brighter. Packaging read that it would not lose brightness over time and simply turn off, - NOT SO, it def dulls over time like incandescent. Look around too though, these are actually made by Luxeon and Batteries plus has them online for $33 plus shipping, yet that one is only 3 watts? Still pretty cool to have the Smith and Wesson name.

Just used this light at a restaurant fire. Light came very handy when searching the smoke filled attic for any fire extension. Continuous use for about 3 hours with the standard AA batteries that it came with. Brightness never changed in the whole 3 hours and light is still running and was used for an accident an hour later. This light is awesome!

This flashlight is compact, light, and very BRIGHT! I'm a Volunteer Firefighter and we use flashlights often on accident scenes and outside the fire ground. This light is perfect for getting yourself seen while directing traffic and still be able to see what you are pointing at. The beam is fairly wide, however, so after 100 feet its not so great for spot lighting. Only thing I don't like about it is the twist cap. If you have it twisted to the off position, even if u just push down on the cap itself, it will turn on. Im always making sure that there is no pressure on the cap so I won't drain my battery with unnecessary use.
Highly recommend this light. Performs like a SureFire but half the price and with 2 AA batteries.

Strongly recommended as a compact flashlight. It has a bright but fairly narrow LED beam. It is well-constructed and rugged. It operates on 2 standard AA cells. It has a twist-on switch with momentary-on using a push-button on the back. This was not what I originally expected, but it is very reliable. I've purchased some for my (grown-up) kids as well.
I also own a Dorcy 41-4299 220-lumen LED light (also from Amazon). That one has a wider beam, operates on a rechargeable non-standard NiCad battery, comes with a home and auto charger, and has a more traditional push button switch on the side of the case. It is nice household light and you should check that out too.
I suggest the Luxeon Rebel over the Dorcy if you want a compact light with standard batteries, for use around the house but also for camping or travel. The Dorcy is better for just general use around the house, mostly because of its wider beam, but is not well-suited for travel.
