Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - "I will milk them until the are dry."--George Lucas
There's really not much to say about this DVD box set. It includes the three movies that make up the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy: THE PHANTOM MENANCE, ATTACK OF THE CLONES, and THE REVENGE OF THE SITH. There are some extras on these discs, but don't be fulled by the way they are worded: everything on here has been released before. There is nothing new on the discs (unless there's some Easter egg I haven't found, yet). This is once again an example of George Lucas milking the cash cow for all it's worth. However, I think even die hard Star Wars fans have begun to see that George is really the President of the Trade Federation and have stopped buying re-treads like this.

The only reason to buy this DVD box set is if you haven't already purchased thee movies before. Even if you haven't you might be able to buy all three separately and still get them for a total of about $5 less than this set.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Lucas - WE WANT BLU-RAY!
Fantastic set if you do not own already on DVD. However, like most who have now purchased multiple versions of the DVD we are demanding that George Lucas WAKE UP and provide a blu-ray edition.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - I hear people complaining already: "Where's the Blu-Ray DVD's of "Star Wars?"
Lucas will probably release these on to Blu-Ray DVD's when something better than Blu-Ray comes out. And then you can buy the new format again and again and again and again and again and so on and so on.

Do you think video quality improvement is going to end with Blu-Ray? I'll bet they are working on something better than Blu-Ray as we speak so that maybe 5 years from now when everyone's replaced their favorite DVD's with Blu-Ray discs, they'll expect us to start replacing our favorite Blu-Ray movies with, yet again, another improved format.

See where I'm going with this? You are probably going to buy Star Wars over and over again til the day you die! I'll stick with the DVD's that I have. They all look fine, and there is no reason to buy them again. That goes for "Star Wars" as well as my other 600 or so movies that I can barely find time to watch as it is.

Getting the best picture of your favorite movies over and over again, year after year, is compulsively expensive and is hardly, realistically, not very necessary.

Get a life people! Get off the couch!

And what's more, I personally think the first two films of the prequel are dull to have to watch anyway. Jar Jar Binks is too annoying and queer and of all three of the films, the CGI is done at an overkill level. Too much distracting art. I'm still trying to decide if I'll buy the whole "prequel" box, or just pick up "Revenge of the Sith" just because it sets the ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Finally!
Finally they released a box set for the Prequel Trilogy! I had not purchased the Episodes I, II and III because I felt that if they released a box set for IV, V and VI, they had to do it with the first ones as well.

Well, the wait was worth it, finally they released a box set for the new movies. Good quality of the video and the boxes are awesome.

Buy these if you are a SW fan!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Packaged Prequel: Exactly what I've been waiting for
This is exactly what I've been waiting for: a low-priced collection of the "first" three Star Wars movies for my modest DVD collection. I actually caught a deal yesterday that allowed me to buy both collections (the Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy) for $34.99 combined, so this set will work great. The Trilogy will replace my old VHS set, and now I'll finally have the Prequel Trilogy. Yes, I hated Jar-Jar, and these movies aren't my favorite ever made; however, it'll give some closure to my OCD-driven need to complete a movie series. In that respect, this release is perfect for me.

Why all the hate from the Star Wars geeks? As you've relentlessly pointed out, these are the same movies that Lucas has been releasing for the last few centuries; why does one more offend you so? It's targeted to me, not you. This particular packaging works great for folks like me who just want the basic collection at an affordable cost.

Just wait a few more months for the "Super Jedi Apprentice Textbook Remastered Restored Empire Standard Version" (which will undoubtedly be on Blu-Ray). Then you can have the movies you so love to hate in all their mediocre glory.
