Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - All Around Best Buy For The Money
These headphones are great. I have had no trouble out of mine which I have had for about 6 months. I don't know how much I have actually used them but I have replaced at least 8 AAA batteries (meaning I have used them a lot). The noise cancelling feature is great at blocking a lawn mower, screaming kids, and general background noise. I was very impressed with the noise cancelling and have demonstrated them to everyone in my family. I have unplugged them and used them at times when I needed total silence. Comfort wise I can't complain. I have fallen asleep while wearing them. I am happy with the sound I get with the noise cancelling on and off. I researched noise cancelling headphones and I am glad I bought the Denon's. I didn't get buyers regret which I have a tendency to do with these types of purchases.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Noise Canceling Great - the rest ok...
I have used these headphones daily for about 5 months now and feel that I can give a good review.

Prior to this pair, I had been extremely happy with a pair of Radio Shack branded $50 noise-canceling that lasted me 5 years, but in testing out the cheaper pairs, I was not satisfied, so I decided to make the leap into the Bose price range. I tested the Bose noise-canceling models extensively in-store, listening to many different types of music on my iPod and found them to be decent at noise-canceling, and quite comfortable but a bit punchy on the bass end.

I then purchased the Beats by Dr. Dre and used them for two weeks. I LOVED the sound of the music on these! The bass was solid but not in a stabbing way, more mellow, and the other ranges of the music sounded good too. I truly felt like I was hearing things in my music that I had never heard before, but had been there all along. But, the noise-canceling was barely there. I'm not sure they were even actively doing anything to cancel the noise. Plus the Dre's made my ears sweat, were huge and bulky and, like the Bose, do not work without batteries. This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. I understand the need for power to have active noise-canceling, but to NOT include just plain headphone listening as a battery-less feature is moronic. I brought these back.

Now the Denons...
This pair had the best noise-canceling by far of any pair that I tried. At first I was very happy with my choice. They are very comfortable (although they look awful and stick out on the sides WAY further than they have to). Unfortunately the music doesn't sound as good as any of the other pairs I tried. I listen to a lot of Podcasts and audiobooks, but I like my music to sound good too! Also, I've found that the volume is much lower through the Denon phones than through a regular pair of earbuds. So far, I can still hear what I'm listening to when I'm on the subway, but my iPod volume is often up to about 80% or more of maximum (though it doesn't sound that loud through these headphones).

All things considered, I had to make a decision between better noise-canceling or better music sound. Since my regular listening tends to be spoken word, I stuck with the Denons and have been mostly happy with them. I don't think they are worth this price though. Actually NONE of them are worth $300. $199 seems a much better price point.

Hopefully this rambling review helps someone. If you want to be a bit more stylish and have your pop/R&B music sound awesome, I say, go with Dre. Otherwise, buy Denon.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very nice
I bought these just before my two week trip to Ireland and Scotland, and wanted something with noise cancellation for the flights. Per the good reviews here on Amazon (and a stellar price!) I bought this set with next-day delivery.

Someone (in their review) mentioned that you will want to "break them in" with a good amp and music with a large bass-line, to which I must agree. In the beginning, they were lacking a lot of response in the sub-60hz range, as well as above the 4khz range. About ten hours at 75% volume with various instrumental and trance tracks yielded FAR better acoustic results.

Denon claims 90%+ reduction in ambient noise, but it's very frequency specific, and in my opinion it's not nearly 90% at any point in the audible spectrum. It does a good job of removing the drone and hum from the plane, but it can't filter out the ambient 'white noise' that my employer pipes into our offices. The noise cancellation also notably changes the tone of the music, bass response drops, and there's some 1-2khz frequency level increase. A bit of adjusting with your player's EQ should fix it.

Finally, as per another reviewer's note, ensure that you've got a good seal between the "earmuffs" and your ear, as otherwise the sound and the cancellation will be quite poor otherwise.

Overall, I enjoy the headphones, especially for the price I paid for them. If I had paid anything near full price (which seems quite high to me) I'd likely have sent them back to try another brand.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Headphones
I am a college student who purchased these headphones because one of my roommates likes to blast his music while he does homework. I would recommend these headphones to anyone who needs a pair of noise canceling headphones. There comfortable, the sound is great, and they do their job. I sometimes forget I wearing them because they are so comfortable. I have purchased the Colby Noise Canceling Headphones and after like 5 minutes of using them my ears began to feel really hot and sore. There is no noticeable distortion of sound from these headphones and they cancel out all of the background noise from my roommate. You can also listen to music while the noise canceling feature is off, which is a feature that not even Bose can offer. I would say that these headphones are comparable to Bose with a much cheaper price tag from Amazon (I have read many reviews before I decided to purchase these headphones). I have no regrets from buying them. This is an exceptional price for the quality of the headphones. The only con I can think of is that the one cord is too short to use most of the time.

These headphones have helped me concentrate better while I do my homework and I would recommend them to anyone.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - terrible customer service
Excelent product.
BUT the case is not practical and the plastic ear piece will brake very easy in it.
Warranty and customer service non-existing to repair it.
