I don't drink a lot of hot chocolate so this was mainly bought for the kids. They get a kick out of using the Keurig and I'm happier they can use this rather than the microwave because I think this is safer temperature. We always shake the cups before using and add some milk to cool it off. They are very happen with the end product. They have expressed no preference between 1 brand and another.

I swore I'd never buy hot chocolate K-cups as long as Green Mountain was the only alternative as it was just plain GROSS. When Gloria Jean came out with one I was skeptical but being a fan of her coffees I thought I'd give it a try. I really love this hot chocolate, it is smooth, creamy and has a better overall chocolate taste than Green Mountain. I found a great trick to better tasting hot chocolate with the Keurig brewers: make sure you punch the initial hole in the K-cup then open the holder, turn it around half-way around and punch again. This will insure that as much of the good chocolate makes it out of the K-cup and into your mug as alot of it can clog in the K-cup. (This didn't work with Green Mountain, it still tasted like dirty choco-water!) Another tip: be sure to flush your brewer out once without a K-cup to get out any chocolate "residue" as this can clump up in the brewer and make it difficult the next time you brew after a period of time. I also mix these with Timothy's white chocolate for a treat and with my plain and flavored coffees for a mocha/latte-like taste treat! Forget the negative reviews on here, you will love this 1000X better than Green Mountain!

Hot cocoa for the K-cups isn't a necessity because you can just buy a packaged hot cocoa cheaper and add hot water. You're paying for convenience here, but it's good! I mix this with a German Chocolate flavored K-cup coffee by Timothy's to make a more sweet and chocolatier German Chocolate mocha.

My kids love coming in from the cold outside and making their own cup of hot chocolate. Yes I think it may not make exactly the same kind of hot chocolate as non-k-cup brands, but one of the reasons is often people make those with milk. Since these are made with a Keurig, you are using water.
Also, I recommend shaking up these k-cups before use for 2 reasons. The first is is makes a stronger cup of hot chocolate. The second is I have found that sometimes these can clog a Keurig if they are not shaken first. The powder mixture is too thick if it's not shaken first and the Keurig water doesn't always push through. This then seems to back up the Keurig and I end up having to turn off and turn on the machine to get it working again (this has never once been a problem with tea or coffee k-cups).
One last thing is even if you shake the hot chocolate k-cup up, for some strange reason the next time you use the Keurig, you get a tiny bit of the hot chocolate in your new drink. Not very much, but I was able to notice this because I use my Keurig for tea and hot chocolate and tea don't mix (bleh). So after my kids have made all their drinks, I usually run the machine once on the smallest setting to clear out any residual hot chocolate mix.
But these are great for kids because they can make their own drinks and be just like mom and dad!

I usually like my hot chocolate a little stronger (I use two packets when I make it), but this is still very good.
