I purchased the Opteka Remote Shutter Release Cord for my Olympus EVolt 500 digital camera. The remote arrived as projected by the company--I believe 47th St. Photo in NY?--.
The remote was not compatible with my camera, which was my oversight when ordering it. I then contacted 47th Photo supplies and requested shipping/return procedures which they sent
via email. Along with their procedures was a request for the invoice to be included, which was NOT included with my product. Thus, I informed them of this and returned the product. To this day, nearly one month ago, I
have heard nothing from 47th regarding my order and/or return. Granted, the purchase cost was minimal and I am not as concerned about a refund as I am the professionalism, or lack thereof, of those who operate under the
guise of Amazon.com.

Perfect for slow shutter speed shots from a tripod. Works just like the name brand!

Product was as advertised and arrived as stated.
The cable is about 36" long. It appears that the USB connector is non standard and an extension cable is not available.
The product was from 47th St Photo. An email question to them about an extension cable was not answered.
I consider this poor customer service for a small item. A major purchase would have me looking elswhere.

This item functions well. Just as described. My only recommendation is that you remember to plug it all the way in. You may think that it is pluged in, but if it is not fully connected, it will not function. I found that I had to actually feel/hear a little bit of a "click" while plugging it into the camera before it would function.

Forget $50 cables - this thing is just as good. The plug pops into the USB jack of the camera, and controls the shutter (and video recording). The button is fairly easy to press, though could be a tad larger. The lock is there, though since the button is flush, I don't see myself using it. The cable is fairly flexible though my only minor gripe is that the cord could be a little longer. And yes - this does work on the Olympus E-P1 for photo and video.
