Dedicated to authenticity in gameplay, as well as keeping up with current superstars of the National Pastime, MLB 09: The Show contains over 700 new gameplay animations, more than 150 new personalized pitcher and batter routines and hundreds of new presentation animations. In addition, the game also recognizes subtleties surrounding the action that are as much a part of the game as anything on the field. Just a few of these are the creeping shadows of a twilight game, the wear and tear a field will show as the season progresses, scoreboard animations, and changes in the clothing of the fans as the season moves from spring, summer and into fall. An Update to 'The Road to the Show' Previous versions of The Road to the Show functionality have allowed not only for extensive customization of in-game players, but also for the ability to play offense and defense through that player's eyes. This year with Road to the Show 3.0 players can take this fine tuning even further with a new steal and lead off system, inter-active training through mini-games and enhanced interaction with managers and coaches as customized players make their way off the bench and into MLB superstardom. Hotshot Fielding In the past all too often fielding functionality simply consisted of positioning your player somewhere near the ball, no matter how the ball appears to be hit. But MLB 09's Hotshot Fielding changes all that. Now if a ball looks too hot to handle without a little extra effort then it probably is. If you can master the dynamic player reactions possible through Hotshot Fielding then there may be a golden glove in your future, otherwise your fielder may bungle that shot to the gap or line drive. Online League Play Providing you with the ability to set up leagues with up to 30 teams offering full stat tracking, point benefits and rewards. Customize as you see fit; choose your players, teams, length, rules and much more. Whether it’s you and a couple buddies or 29 of your closest friends, bragging rights are on the line. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Pretty much the same as 09Gameplay- Graphics A LOT better this time around. Otherwise game play is pretty much the same. 4.5/5. Franchise- Not even close as deep as a Madden franchise but still very fun. Trades are easy on the show compared to Madden. 4/5. Overall Review- This game is worth it to any baseball fan, hardcore or casual. The gameplay on this game is way better than 2K9 and should be any baseball fans library, but improvements are subtle if any. Rating: - Fun, but maybe too much of a simOne of, if not the best baseball game I've ever played, but it is really difficult. Rating: - The most (un)realistic baseball game ever made.Being a fan of The Show franchise since my days as a PS2 gamer, I was eagerly anticipating the release of MLB the Show 09. I made it through most of the baseball season holding off on purchasing the game, until finally I caved. After 10 hours of play, I can say without any doubt that this game does not live up to the tagline of being the most realistic baseball game ever made. Pros: Graphics are outstanding in full HD. The stadiums look excellent. The crowd is dynamic and will leave during a blowout. Especially if you are playing the home team and you are being trounced by the AI. Cons: FRUSTRATING. Your pitchers are not consistent. They never hit their spots even if you hit the pitch meter dead on. Want to throw a slider that clips the corner of the plate? Even with Johan Santana it will swing wide, or it will be thrown right down the middle. Hitting is absolutely impossible. Even if you do manage to make good contact, you will hit it directly at a fielder, or the AI will make an impossible catch to rob you of a hit. The only hits I have are homeruns. In ten hours of play, I haven't hit one double. I have tried adjusting the sliders, but it seems like they do not alter gameplay at all. I am very sorry I spent money on this game, especially since I was looking forward to it for so long. All I wanted was a fun baseball game where I could play a full season with a Franchise. I am very disappointed. Rating: - Awesome and Realistic gameThis being my first baseball game, its totally blown me off. The graphics are totally awesome- very realistic. The AI plays are like a real game too. Its hard to hit home runs(just like a real game), but at times that makes it really difficult. I wish Sony starts making NFL games too they would surely give EA Sports a run for their money. A must have for baseball fans. Rating: - Welcome baseball fans! This has to be THE best baseball game out on the market today. The players look alot like their real selves. I love the fact that the game mechanics are realistic. Everything about this game makes you think you're actually at a real game. The game can be very difficult to play, but real baseball is difficult to play too, so that goes hand in hand. I was happy to hear all of the new game commentary this year from the three broadcasters. Another good addition was the game highlight reel after it's over. I enjoyed watching my crushing homeruns or my great hitting ability after defeating an opponent. |
