![]() Rating: - Two stars only because it's like a train wreck you can't turn away from...I went to see this movie with my X-GF and she warned me about all the hubbub with the books, the teen crowd and the fact this was not like a regular vampire story. I recall she mentioned something about this being love story first. First off I will watch most any vampire flick, the more action, blood and gore the better. This is not even a vampire movie at all, just a sappy teen romance flick about two characters that clearly can't seem to breathe without each other. Although, as a capitalist I will have to give props to the author of these books, as she (these books HAVE to have been created and written by a woman) clearly found a huge female teen audience. That being said, it's amazing how you can dangle trash like this in front of kids and they come running to it like moths to a flame. When I saw this movie and watched the way the two primary characters looked at each other I could not figure out what the deal was. The leading man looked like he had just eaten bad sushi or something and the way the leading lady looked at the guy was nearly as bad. She looked at him like he was last cheeseburger she was going to get the chance to inhale before she took a forced 100 year journey into deep outer space. So I patiently waited for some fangs, blood, violence or anything that was remotely interesting and juicy but nothing really happened except the two lead actors perpetually looking at and longing for each other (described in the prior paragraph). I almost forgot to mention that there theater was fully loaded with teenage girls who just kept saying things like "there he is" and "om my god he is so beautiful" and "I can't believe how perfect he is" etc... I gave this movie two stars only for the reason that the experience in going to the movies to see this kooky flick with a bunch of teeny bopping 'Twilighters' just made me appreciate my home vampire movie collection that much more. This movie is good for two things: 1) Watching this will surely remind real vampire movie fans how thankful they are that movies like Horror of Dracula, Blade, Underworld etc... actually got made. I could see how this trash could absolutely supplant real vampire movies just by the sheer box office sensation this whole Twilight craze created. 2) Any bad DVD can serve as a coaster in a pinch. As for me, I could pick out my 10th favorite Hammer vampire flick made 40 years ago and know that it is a million times better than Twilight. Rating: - Twilight-Blu-rayLove it, watched it five times already, can't wait until New Moom comes out on Blu-ray. Rating: - TwilightThe item was in great shape and I have already watch it several times. Thank you. Rating: - just badBad acting, hollow, stiff leading actors, amateur acting Bad romance, just bad beyond words Bad vampire myths Bad story woven from better stores Based on a bad body of work Suggested works in both film and book for both adults and teens Bram Stoker's Dracula of course, book and movies I am Legend, Book only Baltimore All things Buffy the Vampire Slayer Ann Rice's body of work, for the most part Adults who claim to like twilight need to hit this list, honestly. no excuse Rating: - Meh... this movie feels hollowI got this only knowing that it had something to do with vampires. I'd never heard of the story before, so I had no preconceived notions about it. Overall, it was "OK". I don't think it deserves the hype it's getting, but it was just entertaining enough to keep my attention through the movie even when I was rolling my eyes left and right. The female lead is, frankly, annoying. She seems to always be confused or high or something. She's not very bright, either. Half the time she just stares at something and wont talk, the other half she's confused and babbling. The male lead is just... not believable. It's like a male underwear model hopped off a Hanes package and got the role. The plot is incredibly predictable. The typical "forbidden love" of a human and a vampire. Speaking of which, I don't feel like I really believe they are in love. I feel like I'm watching a highschool crush that's blown out of proportion. And why is this person who should have the maturity of a 100+ year old man, in love with this annoying 17 year old girl who has no personality? It just seems silly. When I try to think of what about this movie was good, I can't really name anything. It was just mildly entertaining somehow. |
