Amazon.com:
If Family Guy could spoof Star Wars with the epic Blue Harvest episode, then it's only fitting that American Dad take on the espionage world of Agent 007. In "Tearjerker," a season 3 benchmark that kicks off this three-disc set, Stan Smith (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) portrays secret agent Stan Smith, with the other characters taking on Bondian persona. Dutiful wife Francine (Wendy Schaal) is transformed into the femme fatale Sexpun T'Come, and alien Roger (MacFarlane) portrays arch villain Tearjerker, a failed actor with a diabolical scheme to make the saddest movie in the world that will make all who see it cry themselves to death. At one point, Stan meets his superior, B (a game Patrick Stewart), in Japan. When Stan asks why they must be dressed as geishas, B replies, "Because I thought we could be secret Asians." Which just goes to show that American Dad will go any distance for a gag. And we mean that literally. In the episode, "Pulling Double Booty," Stan and Francine's rebellious peacenik daughter (Rachael MacFarlane) gets hot and heavy with Stan's CIA body double, which elicits a projectile reaction from Francine. "Oedipal Panties" is another cringe-worthy episode in which we discover the lengths to which Stan will go to keep his mother to himself.

There are a couple of milestones among these 14 episodes from seasons 3 and 4. "1600 Candles" marks Roger's 1,600th birthday, while "Oedipal Panties" is interrupted to celebrate the series' 1,000th vagina joke. By this point, we should be past Family Guy comparisons. Both series are a riot of obscure pop-culture references, gratuitous celebrity potshots, and meta asides (in "Widowmaker," Francine ponders making a "gag me with a spoon" joke, "but then I thought, 'Who's that for?'"). But at least when Stan goes to absurd extremes, it is more in keeping with his overzealous, xenophobic character. The writing takes some rewarding chances as it careens wildly from the smart to the sophomoric. The holiday episode, "The Most Adequate Christmas Ever," contains an Auschwitz joke that is actually kinda funny, even as one cringes at the "oh, no they didn't"-ness of it. As with previous volumes, this set contains bountiful extras, including deleted scenes, audio commentaries for every episode, a featurette on the making of "Tearjerker," and, best of all, a live ComiCon table read of the first act of "Pulling Double Booty." American Dad, we salute you. --Donald Liebenson

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - No Sensorship! Let them Rip!
At least Stan isn't as dumb as Peter! But, Seth and his team of marketing peeps need to put these shows on DVD faster! I wanted to see the Roy Rogers episode! I love this funny and politically incorrect show! Unfortunately, no continuation of Roger's jeweled, golden poo! That really roasted my cookies! I thought that I missed something when there was no follow up. I do remember reading something about Seth being on that writing strike way back so I wonder if that has something to do with it. It just makes me wonder how a greedy, scheming alien like Roger hasn't figured that he is worth billions, maybe trillions! Especially, when it can save America in Stan's eyes! Also, I wish they had more uncensored episodes.

The only draw back to buying this new DVD box (now original clear case) is that the original season 4 box set was in the individual cases with more episodes and now they come in one regular case with a flip case inside to accommodate the 3 disks instead of putting them on less disks. The disks appear to have more episodes but, it is less or the same, STOP BEING CHEAP, I would rather they spent more on the cases than the DVDs!

When I bought the Tales from the Crypt all seasons on DVD and they put 3 disks in one regular case, one disk on one side and two overlapping on the other side and all that does is make the clips break during shipping causing the disks to slide around getting scratched up. My suggestion if you don't want to wait for American Dad Season 4 to come in the mail possibly broken, buy it in a store so you can shake it and test it making sure the disk is not loose and scratch. Otherwise you may be annoyed with the Amazon seller for the flimsy clips.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - American Dad Vol. 4 Rocks !
I am a American Dad fan and Vol. 4 won't let you down. One of my favorites are Oedipal Panties, it about Stan's Mom is dumped by yet another boyfriend, Francine and Roger investigate to find out why on the third date everything goes wrong. You have to see this for yourself I recommend this purchase for all American Dad fans and you can't beat the price.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Just A Rude cartoon
I Love It! Ever Since season one where they ripped on Guantanamo bay detainees and Saudi Arabia. I have been rolling LOL.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A very funny series
It is a very funny series but what is interesting is that Seth McFarland does not allow it to be a "Family Guy" with different characters. Both are outstanding but in different ways.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - "Nobody needs America's help, until they need it"--Stan
American Dad was getting better with every season (or DVD volume) and now it has reached 5 star level. The reason is that it is consistently clever and well-written. There are many 5-star episodes here: "Tearjerker," "Office Spaceman," "Stanny Slickers II: The Legend of Ollie's Gold," "Spring Break-Up," "The One That Got Away," and others that are solid 4-star. The only one I don't care for is "Red October Sky." I watch AD as often as I watch Family Guy and South Park. Watching the episodes from this past season, it has now surpassed FG in writing and storylines. Stan and Roger rule!
