I purcharsed this dvd-rw drive and it arrived overnight (thanks to Amazon PRIME). I simply connected the power supply USB cord to the computer and the system USB cord to my acer mini and Shazzam like magic a new field was populated next to my computer icon. I then played a dvd and a regular cd. There was no software installation needed. I also had Mcafee and i did not prevent me from connecting my DVD-dw drive. Rating: - Handiest netbook accessory I own! I'm stuck using a little netbook while my desktop is in the shop. But, this little DVD reader/burner hardly makes me miss my desktop at all. It's been great for watching movies, and burning info to CDs and DVDs. It's small enough to take along for travel and road trips if need be. However, it took me powering my computer on and off several times for the device to be found. I thank Pro Ebiz for the advice but the external DVD drive isn't without flaws. see more
