Yup it looks familiar. The CC Observer is a wind-up emergency radio that makes no bones about outperforming a distant cousin. You might notice that we did a few things differently. For one thing, we tinkered with the AM for better reception, and then we put the LED flashlight on the side of the radio instead of the front. That way, when you turn it on the light doesnגt shine in your face, and when you carry it, you can use the flashlight to light your way while holding it in a more natural position. You can run the CC Observer off the built-in rechargeable batteries or you can go with 3 "AA" alkaline batteries (not included) if you prefer. Of course, if you don't have alkaline batteries around, just wind-up the radio and keep it running as long as you need. You can even use it to charge a cell phone. In case you're wondering, along with good AM reception, you also get FM and the Weather band which comes in really handy if you're using the radio during a power failure. There's also a stereo headphone jack for private listening. Weight: 1 lb. Size: 7.25" W x 5.5" H x 2" D. We have included cell phone adapters for the most popular, recent model, cell phones so you can charge them with the CC Observer. We are unable to supply adapters for any other models at this time. Certain models, like a Blackberry, can be charged but doing so requires vigorous cranking for a second or two to initialize the charge circuit on the phone. The radio is light weight but appears rugged. I had to return the first one as the switch for the light was defective and the tuning knob was very hard to slide. The new one was fine; however, the FCC sticker on the back was placed over the batter door, so I had to remove it. Poor quality control. The LCD screen had finger prints all over it and was packaged poorly. Again, another QC issue. A 10 cent piece of plastic protective over the LCD screen would have been nice. Other than that the AM and FM are very good. WX is average and the back lit light is a nice touch. Overall a good product.

It is rare that I rave about a product these days in a world of mediocrity. Right out of the box this product did exactly what C. Crane stated it would do. I like such solid results. I like all its features, but I am most impressed with the AM radio reception. I live 70 miles north of Portland, OR., in Washington, and can still pick up KFBK in Sacramento, CA, 650 miles away, with this little radio. Of course Northwest stations zing in. Consider how important reception is in an emergency and especially in remote areas, such as mine. This is the real thing. Compared to other brands I've already tried and returned to stores, no one else comes close to this product. Great product, with all the features one should need in an emergency, great price and great value are appropriate for this emergency radio. In closing, all I can say is buy it.

Being raised in a time when AM Radio was the only game on the airwaves, I listened to many a distant city. The CC radio gives great reception AM and FM...very lightweight & portable and never runs out of battery. The Weather channels are very necessary. I plan to give this radio as a gift for birthdays and Holidays to my family!

LESS EXPENSIVE & TEN TIMES BETTER THAN PREVIOUS EMERGENCY RADIOS I HAVE USED. I LIKE THE ADDITION OF A LIGHTED DIAL FOR TUNING WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE OUT. THIS RADIO IS SMALL, LIGHT WEIGHT, HAS STRONG RECEPTION, CLEAR HIGH QUALITY SOUND AND CAN BE OPERATED USING AA-BATTERIES FOR EVERYDAY LISTENING. BUT A FEW MINUTES OF EASY WINDING PROVIDES A COUPLE HOURS OF RADIO LISTENING. CRANK IT LONGER & LISTEN LONGER-- UP TO 30 HOURS! I HAVE EXPERIENCED POWER OUTAGES LASTING AS LONG AS 5 DAYS AND THIS IS A RADIO I CAN REALLY RELY UPON AT SUCH TIMES.

The radio arrived in a timely fashion... it is built well and is easy to use. This model had all the features I was looking for. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get another to keep in the car trunk!
