As a shuffle addict I was pretty steamed when my new shuffle would work only intermittently with the control cord/earphones supplied by Apple. When they finally stopped working altogether I went to the Apple Store to get the defective earphones replaced, they required that I make an appointment to come back another day because they needed a genius technician to run "diagnostics". Instead I ordered the tapstick and have been very pleased with its performance and ease of use. Plus I can use it to plug into my car and control songs and volume unlike the unadorned shuffle. For the cost of replacing the headphones, this is a much better buy.

Simply turn the Shuffle on, insert into tapstick, and all operations are handled with ease. Buttons as big and easy to use. You can leave the Shuffle always on when it is in the tapstick, only needing to remove the iPod from the tapstick for syncing/charging. Also comes with a male to male cord so you can plug iPod into your car audio AUX jack. The cord is worth [...] itself. Great buy. Makes the 3rd gen Shuffle what it should have been from the start.

I was experiencing the same problem as many other iPod Shuffle 3rd Gen users: the controls stop working after some workout sessions. This is supposedly due to sweat entering the controls, which to me means "bad design". I started searching for an accessory to work around the problem and find the tapStick just when it had just been launched. I have already used it several times and yes, it works very fine. It is a very clever solution, of good finishing quality, and it preserves the original Shuffle 3G style. The only things I can say that it could additionally feature are the possibility to plug a second cable e a way to turn it on and off without dettaching it from the iPod.

This product is definitely worth the money!! The first couple uses it is hard to detach from the iPod, bu after that it gets easier and is not a problem.

This is a good controller for a cool iPod that normally would just limit you to the Apple headphones, but now I can use any pair of phones I like, as well as using it in the car with just as much control as my classic iPod.
