Editorial Review:
Album Description: 2009 album from the Grammy Award winning Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer. SoulBook is a collection of classic '60s and '70s era Soul favorites sung by one of the most interpretive voices in music. Stewart is personally passionate about this project, which is a return to his beginnings when he fronted The Jeff Beck Band and the critically-revered band The Faces, iconic in the history books for fusing American roots music - Rock, Soul and Blues. Soulbook reunites Stewart with his longtime collaborators, producers Steve Tyrell and Steve Jordan, of Rolling Stones/Xpensive Winos fame, who also brought in top musicians Ray Parker Jr., Waddy Watchel, Darrell Jones, Dean Parks and David Paich to join Rod in the studio for the album.

Once again Rod Stewart does not disappoint. I love the songs he's chosen and his voice has a pathos to it that enriches each selection.

I received my Rod Stewart CD on the morning that it was released in perfect condition. It is one of his best CDs of our time. Thank you for having it available.

I absolutely love this CD. Knew I would like it, but it was better than I imagined!!

I loved Rod Stewart's American Songbook CDs, but I detest this one. To me, the songs on the American Songbook albums can be redone by any singing artist with a great voice and Rod Stewart's voice was very well suited to that music. I thought he was nothing short of great on those albums. But, I think that this album is a huge waste of Rod's talent and it could be detrimental to his career. Most of the songs were done by the artist who should have done them and they don't lend themselves to a redo by other artists. I never thought that Rod Stewart could make an album that I would want to turn down the audio on it after hearing it the first time. I hope he is much wiser about his next release.
