We went home to Toronto for a week over Christmas, returning on December 26. So there are no Bermuda Christmas stories or photos to report. The weather was cold in Toronto -- well, at least compared to Bermuda. There was snow on the ground when we arrived, but later in the week it rained. On Christmas day it was raining and you could see the grass by that point. Typcial Toronto winter weather, snow then rain then snow then rain, etc. I caught a nasty flu while we we there (perhaps on the plane, who knows) so I wasn't feeling the best for a good part of the trip. But it was really to see everybody back home and spend Christmas with our families.

Hi there,
My name is Carmen and I will be moving from Toronto to Bermuda in about 3 weeks. Can you give me some advise on what to bring/ not to bring? I am having a difficult time paking. @_@
BTW, what is your name? Couldn't find it anywhere.

Hi Carmen,
My name is Mark. (At the bottom of each entry, it says "posted by Mark" -- also the domain name of this site contains a clue ;) )
As far a what to bring, many people bring a little other bring a lot. We shipped most of our furniture, but not all of it. If your company is paying you a generous moving allowance, ship as much as you can. Priority should be on things that would cost a lot more here in Bermuda, such as electronics, computers, etc. That said, there are weekly "leaving the island" sales here, where you can find many things, often a decent prices. A few things you should definitely buy before you come are:
- a good rain suit (both jacket and pants). There a few stores downtown Toronto that sell these, including Mountain Equipment Co-op. You will need this for riding on Scooters in the rain. When it rains here, it pours.
-bring some warm clothes for the winters, you will even need winter gloves when driving a scooter, believe it or not. Some people even wear winter jackets on Scooters when it gets cool.
Anyway, good luck witht the packing. If you have any specific questions, you can post them here or email mark@markcarey.com.
