WWW.1062.ORG is now live on the web. It is an on-line decision-making system that allows all willing and able members of an organization to equally participate in the decision-making process. It is fully participatory, democratic and transparent (isonomic). It also allows each member to participate with all other members, collectively, concerning all the rules of the decision-making process for the organization. There are 56 different settings that regulate the process (different for each organization).
There are a number of people currently lobbying the Byron Shire Council, NSW Australia to use 1062.ORG in its previously made policy/commitment to seek more public participation in Shire-wide decisions (the Council has refused to make progress on this issue up to this point due to two reasons: lack of technology and lack of available funds). It may even be possible that the Council itself may have interest in using the site for its own decisions. After speaking with several councilors, it seems that frustration exists concerning the use of Council's existing decison-making system.
Due to recent changes in the Australian balloting system people who desire to run for political office are required to be a member of a political party in order to get a higher preference on the ballot. Therefore, numerous numbers of new political parties are now being formed. There are currently several of these new locally established political parties that are seriously viewing 1062.ORG for possible use.
The most recently recognized sovereign nation of the Kingdom of Hawaii is currently considering using the 1062.ORG system in their legislative branch of government -- which they plan to have up and running within 15 months from now.
The site is also currenlty being viewed by organizations in Engalnd, France, Canada, America, Sweden, Italy, Sri Lanka, South Korea and Singapore.
Arrangements are now being made to introduce the site to these various organizations, answer questions, and assist in suggesting amendments to by-laws/consitutions in order to allow compatibility with the site.
The intitial responses are very positive and it is expected that the news will spread quickly .
Many people, who have tuned into their parliament/congress sessions on TV and mistakenly understood them to be sit-com comedies, now have a reason to be hopeful for current and future generations. From the grass-roots level up, 1062.ORG has the potential to make a gigantic positive change in the way we make decisions at all levels.
