Search Engine Optimization

In my search for answers, I cam across several web discussion forums on the topic of search engine rankings. This is where I first learned about the field of Search Engine Optimization, otherwise known as SEO.

Search Engine Optimization is the art and science of optimizing web sites for high search engine rankings. SEO is both an art and a science because search engine rankings are based primarly on complex algorithms (the science) which are kept top secret from web site publishers (hence, the art).

While the focus of the discussion was SEO for Google rankings, it turns out that most SEO strategies and techniques work for all major search engines, more or less. As I read more and more discussion threads on the topic of SEO, I started to implement what seemed to be some of the 'best practices' of SEO. Over time, I learned a great deal about search engine optimization and I realized that I had a lot of changes to make to StanTheCaddy.com if I wanted to achieve high rankings.

While I would like to share with you everything I learned about search engine optimization, that would take so many words that it would become a book in and of itself. But throughout this book, I will share, at a very high-level, some of the key lessons I learned.
