Brighton Beach

In the morning we went to the Brighton Beach area of Brooklyn, to visit some firends of Michelle's - former neighbours from back home in Odessa, Ukraine. Brighton Beach is a short subway ride form my sister's house - we took the F train and then walked from there.

The apartment doubled as puzzle gallery, with many framed jigsaw puzzles on the walls. The largets had over 6,000 pieces. We had champagne, coffee, and Napoleon (my favourite cake) and shows them soem photos from the the wedding.

After that, around noon, we walked to the beach and the boardwalk, just steps form the Coney Island amusement park.

We then walked along the main street in Brighton Beach. The street has a lot of character. The subway is elevated, running just aboive the center of the street. The shops and restaurants are mostly Russsian, which is also the assumed first language in the area. The storefronts are very colorful and the street is always busy with people.

After that, we took the Q train and got off at Avenue J, then making the long walk back to my sister's house. Now 2pm, we have packed and are waiting for taxi to take us to JFK airport.
