Luxor Temple

After Karnak, we went to Luxor Temple, another large temple. A village was at thsi site when it was discovered by archaeologists. The village was removed, but a 1,000 year old mosque remains, sittining in the center of Luxor Temple, which lies in the middle of modern day Luxor. Much of the temple was buried under sand when they discovered it, and this can be see by the height at which the base of the mosque starts, way above most of the temple. Also interesting here was a shrine built by Alexander the Great, depicting himself as an Egyptian Pharoah.
