Walking in Memphis

At about noon we went back to the hotel briefly and then continued on to Memphis, the acient former captial of Egypt. There is little left of Memphis, as most of it was made of mudbrick and wood. A huge collosus of Ramses II was very impressive, lying on its back since the legs of the statue were broken. The colossus is huge (one might even say colossal), carved from a single piece of limestone.
