From Auricle:

Learning objects don't need to be aggregated in one place, or be 'locked in' to one virtual learning environment.

How true! While there are certainly good reason to aggregate learning objects in many instances, the true power lies in distributed eLearning object repositories. The power of the web and standard XML formats make distributing and sharing learning objects possible.

Like many other applications, this distributed nature has the potential to turn the system on its end. When you has a wide base of puclicly available learning objects, in a standard format, the opportunity is presents for value-added search, aggregation, and recommendation services. When learning objects are scattered all over the web, I need a service to help me find, filter, and subcribe/enroll. Learnster anyone?

I am actually taking a university course, which is all about e-learning. It’s actually an interesting class and the instructor Bryn Holmes is so hilarious.

What did I learn about e- learning?

I’ve learned that all categories of people can learn through E-learning such as students, life long learners, trainees and etc. Even disadvantaged learners and students with disabilities can learn through E-learning, these people shouldn’t be left behind because of their disability. E-learning can also make certain that no individual is excluded from education by geography, physical or even social circumstances (Holmes, 2006).

There are also so many benefits of E-learning. For instance, learning takes place in any location the learner wishes and at a time that is convenient for them. Another benefit would be the inclusion of those people who are least mobile such as children in the hospital. There are several more benefits but I will conclude by saying E-learning allows people to learn anytime and anywhere (Holmes, 2006).

As I Previously mentioned Bryn Holmes is one of my instructors at Concordia University, Montreal and she published her own book. It is a really good book and easy to read and understand.

If anyone is interested here is her book and website.

Great posts Mark and Maria, e-Learning is really for everyone. The e-Learning environment is definately growing and becoming more and more popular. On the SyberWorks Online Media Center there is podcasts,an e-Learning dictionary, and so much more that has to do with this movement. Check it out if you have some time. Good luck with the rest of your work!
