Take another look at Claroline -beta 1.5 has been released, it has SCORM built in. Several other open source LMSs will be SCORMed by years end (if not sooner).

I am currently testing content and hope to have a working version soon.

I think this will change the way a lot of groups view open source in the educational communities.

Do you know if Claroline is compliant with SCORM ?

I'm just wondering if anybody knows if a Flash content object can send variables back and forth in a SCORM 1.2 compliant Learning Management System?

You see, I need to create my learning objects totally in flash due to certain requirements in Instructional Design, and that flash objects will contain many performance tracking data within itself, and not in the javascript or HTML. So, the question is, can flash transmit data to a SCORM 1.2 compliant LMS by itself (without having to rely on the HTML page it is embedded into)?

Hi Zahir, we have a Flash Course Development Toolkit that works with SCORM 1.2. The toolkit lets you load multiple Flash movies. Wach movie can communicate with SCORM through the functions provided by the Toolkit. The toolkit comes with source code (.fla files and separate ActionScript source files).

I'm looking for an open source or at least free LMS with SCORM support that keeps track of not only the Score of each lesson but also of every attempt made by the user. I've seen this feature on some of my customers' organizations, using Globalteach for example. I've tried Claroline but I cannot find each attempt's score.

Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Moodle is a very good free LMS. It's supposed to have support for Scorm but I've had some trouble working it out. Not sure if it's been fixed since then or if it was my own fault.

It does a great job with exams, and v1.5 to be out around end of June 2005 will be even better.

Just a simple note to tell you about Claroline again :
the next version Claroline 1.7 that should be released in september 2005 also include the SCORM EXPORTATION. this means you can create interative learning content with claroline tools, then export it if you want to use it with other tool, or you can still also import contents scorm 1.2 fand use them in the learning path tool of Claroline.

I am involved with a new Open Source SCORM .NET LMS project that is making great progress.

DotNetSCORM the platform is a modular design that will allow for many different types of content players such as SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 1.3 players as well as the ability to extend to other types of content. The content or package import is also extendable to many different types of content the DotNetSCORM v1.0 release will support SCORM 1.2 and then shortly after that we will add the SCORM 1.3 support. The v1.0 release will also include a DotNetNuke PA version to allow tight integration with an existing portal.

I'm developing an eCourse module for my company and ran across this whole SCORM thing, would this be an online learning method similar to what WebCT offers?

Hey guys I had an old laptop running XP Pro. A couple of weeks ago, every time I would connect to the internet via DSL or wireless, the hard drive light would come on - as if it were writing something to the hard drive. It would cause IE to run slower than dial-up. I looked in task manager and although the CPU usage was high, there didn't seem to be a process listed that was using it. I used LavaSoft Adaware to scan on a regular basis as well as Norton 2005. I eventually gave up and bought a new laptop (Vista Home), which now has the same problem. It is obviously related to something that I copied over to the new computer from the old computer. But the things is, Norton Internet security isn't picking up a virus. I used it to scan everything before copying it on to the new computer. Has anyone heard of such a thing or had the same problem? I'd much rather be able to find and remove the problem rather than restore.
