At around 11 PM, we landed in Quito, Ecuador. After disembarking, the gate was only steps away, and immediately we were at customs and immigration. Then baggage claim was right there in front of us, no walking. We picked up our bags and found the driver waiting for us. It was extremely fast going through the whole process, faster than any other airport I can remember.
The drive from the airport to our hotel, Hotel Eugenia, was about 10 minutes. It was dark, so we couldn't see much of the city of Quito, which is nestled in a valley in the Andes, at an elevation of 2,700 feet. We sent a few emails at the hotel and then went to sleep.
