When I search I allways get these 3 hits in spots 2-4.

So the first hit is a site relevant to my search, and so is 5-13 (which means I get all the results but those three are put inbetwen the good ones). If i go to the next page the first hit in the list (11) is good, 12-14 are those three links and 15-23 are also good.
I guess some kind of spyware has infected my computer and lies behind this all. Anyone know what I can do to remove it?

Wow!
I had exactly the same question.
After some effort today: I have 1/3 of the question remaining.
Earlier I ran spyware removal programs to get rid of some problems. Then, I was left with the identical 3 occurrences on every Google search (same thing shows up when I do an Alta Vista search, by the way).
Go after every instance in your registry of
bridge
brdg
brdg class
This got ride of the defender.veloz one.
Look for things in the registry like:
yinst starter class
yinsthelper.dll
MediaTickets Installer control
MediaTicketsInstaller.ocx
HouseCall Control
jao
jao.jao
jao.dll
ISTactivex.dll
Use the registry editor while in Safe Mode.
And while not connected to the Internet.
One place to look for other things I have not listed is "module usage". Don't just remove things from there without care: write them down. When you go out of Safe Mode and reconnect to the internet. Search for these items and see if they should be left alone or removed because association with SpyWare.
The two I got rid of were defender.veloz and browservillage. I still have HyperTracker. I now have a new occurrence
http://msxml.us.info.com
So, every time I do a Google search it returns unwanted result from those two.
I don't know why. My mind makes an association between removing some of the others and having the new one show up. I know I did not download anything in between.
If you have anything to give me as feedback, I would appreciate it. I need to know what I am looking for.
I found a couple of occurrences of
lbrdg
in the registry. Thus far, I have not removed them. I don't know what they are. I have read everything there about them. They seem harmless (don't like to other files, etc.)
It was wild to see that you had the exact same problem with the exact same 3 recurring unwanted Google results.

Well, maybe it is NOT related to what is on out computers. I am as sure as one can be that I got all the spyware and traces of spyware off my computer.
I no longer see the searched below on Alta Vista. However the defender.veloz one is back on Google. Like I say, there is zero chance I just gave myself a new spyware, trojan, popup infectio.
Is it possible that these sites are searching themselves over and over again to increase their likelihood of jumping into the beginning of all searches?
... maybe it is something in the computer itself. When I search on Google from elsewhere, it does not happen.
If it is, it sure is hidden deeply.
This is what I currently see if I entered "Goings On" into a Google search.

Hmmm.
Now I am back to concluding it is on the computer itself because it is happening (again) when I use Alta Vista to search AND when I use Ask Jeeves.
And it doesn't happen when I use Google on other computers ...
aaarrrrgggggh. |

I'm having the same issues. And it wasn't after I installed either. Was working fine this morning. Went to lunch, left the computer running. Came back to find several ad programs installed and my searches all messed up like these. Getting the same generic results on most browsers. (Not Lycos). Ran Spybot, Adaware, HiJack This, removed anything suspicious. I'm stumped, and quite upset. |

Well, I have good news and news that shows I can be a little brain dead about details ...
The annoying problem is gone for me.
I just kept going back at it:
Going into Safe Mode ... running spyware removal programs ... looking over the registry myself ... looking at files recently appearing in my Windows directory ... looking at files that recently appeared in my Windows System director ... going back onto the internet and searching for the things I found (instead of just going wild with irritation and removing what I thought might be suspicious -- which proved wise because many things I though may be suspicious proved to be useful files that were meant to be there and that I should leave alone) ... then going back into Safe Mode and removing files from the Windows directory and the Windows/system directory, removing all references to certain entries from the registry ... running spyware again ... and after the last session where I blasted a lot of things at the same time, the problem was gone.
So, I can't say for sure *which* of the things I eliminated was causing that particular problem with the google searches.
I did strongly suspect something called "mobilePK" in the registry and files in the Windows directory such as SA2 ... and a group of files that all started b2 and all had .XML extensions. Another one I did delete but was not sure how strongly I suspected: in the Windows directory nem214.dll
I am pleased.
I wish I had time to do this by trial and error one file at a time to narrow down which one was the culprit or which ones. However, frustration and time limits made me take more of a scorched earth policy.
Good hunting and good luck. |

I caught it in the act!!! I was doing a google search on something, and the results came back without defender.veloz, 2020search, or FindTarget. About a second later, all 3 of them popped up in slots 2-4. Needless to say, I still can't get rid of them. |

I've got the same thing, or some variation. It hijacks the google results; you sometimes briefly see the real google results. This is very malicious. I hate registry problems. Is there any comprehensive registry cleaner to get rid of all the junk in there? |

I have run CWshredder and it said I was clean, I have run Spybot S & D and adaware. I can't believe that google's quality has gone downhill by that much. If anyone figures this out I will be eternally grateful. |

It affects every search engine. I blamed spyware- 'internet optimizer', I manually uninstalled it, but I'm still not certain that it's completely eliminated from my PC.
It's stuck in the registry. I'm about ready to go delete-crazy! |

I'm getting the same things as yal have previously mentioned I found one thing that temp. worked and it was a free online virus scan, I ran it and I didn't have any problems for about 2 days but then it came back and like yal have said, I'm now also stuck in the registry about to go delete crazy. but if you would like to try that online virus scan go to www.spywareinfo.com scroll down and look on the left hand side and you'll see online virus scanner click it and let it run. until next time, if anyone else finds anything please post |

Had this for ages now ... can't get rid of it. Ran all the spywares in the world (and spent about $60 buying programs to run this) and still can't get rid of it. Now using Vivisimo and others for searching. Bye,bye google. :-( |
