After picking up our luggage at the shed (airport terminal) in Puerto Moldonado, we met with our guides from the jungle lodge, Posadas Amazonas, and boarded their bus. The weather was sunny and quite hot, much different climate than Lima. First stop was their office, just 3 minutes away. Here we seperated our bags into those that would come with us into the jungle and those that would stay in storage at the office. Then we jumped on a different bus and headed into to the center of Puerto Moldonado to pick up a few supplies (such as the shaving cream and inspect repellent that we seem to be missing). Puerto Moldonado has a population of 45,000 people, though you wouldn't guess that many, from the look of the main street -- which is a dirt road with most motorbikes and bike carts (I think Bermuda needs those motorbike carts, they're small, good on gas, and can take a few passengers). After getting back on the bus, I realized that my Gillette shaving cream was actually an anit-perspirant spray, so I went back to the store and exchanged it for some Brut shaving cream (nice).

We then travelled by bus for 30 minutes to the "port", getting off the bus at one point in order to cross a questionable bridge. During the bus ride, our rainforest guides fed some local bananas (tiny, but very good), peaches, and banana chips made by the local native population. We also had some juice that is made locally, which was quite tasty.
