We landed in Atlanta at 10:30 EDT, and our flight from Atlanta to Lima, Peru, did not leave until 4:55 PM.
So...... it was time to SHOP! The airport in Atlanta is quite large and long, and organized into 5 concourses and a main terminal. It is organized such that you can move freely between each of the concourses (by foot or by train) as you wait for your flight. Each concourse has many departure gates, food places, and retail stores. We found a map and decided to walk from concourse E to B. We checked a few bookstores for peru travel guides, without luck. There were zero Peru books in B that we could find and none in the Atlanta airport (also none in Bermuda, that we could find). We also checked out a few other stores and bought some travel sized face soaps and such.
We had lunch at TGI Fridays, and the food was pretty bad. However, I had a view of the Trinidad vs. England world cup game on the television (England 2 Trinidad 0). After an hour we took the train back to Concourse E to wait for our flight.
The Atlanta airport seems to have mini-art galleries at each of the gates. Some seem to be by professionals, and others by kids or students. It's a great idea and it looks quite good. Other airports should do something similar.
Our flight to Lima was delayed until 5:35 PM EDT and left about that time.
