Rating: - Comedy Masterpiece
At an expensive price, this is a dream come true for fans of NBC's Seinfeld, the number one show on television for many years. It was a masterpiece of sitcom comedy, the creation of Larry David and stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld. For many years through the 90's, it brought laughter to millions of homes. Seinfeld, long labeled as "the show about nothing" the long running comedy proved that it was a show about EVERYTHING. It made fun of the little things in life, the commonplace became great comedy. Larry David (from Curb Your Enthusiasm) and his comedic talents were in their full power on Seinfeld. For Jerry Seinfeld himself, it became a vehicle for his own stand-up comedy. For me, it became as much a 90's definative show as Fox 11's "Married With Children". It is a time capsule of the 90's. New York City, stand-up comedy and guest stars galore including Kathy Griffin, Raquel Welch, Patrick Warburton, Brian Cranston and many others.
This was the pre-9/11 years, and New York City was exciting and colorful. There was one episode in which Krammer prepares two years ahead for the 1999 New Years Eve party to ring in the New Millenium. A lot of the comedy was in the characters and the adventures they got themselves into, which were hilarious !! Remember the episodes "Master Of His Domain" in which Jerry, Kramer, Elaine and George made a bet on who would abstain from masterbation ? Pure hilarity ! That was a well-written episode. Kramer could always be counted on for laughter with his cartoonish apperance and physical comedy (coming through the door all of a sudden, his many antics) Elaine was a promiscuous, men-loving, adventuresome, care-free, devil-may-care but intelligent and classy girl. Her search for a man who was "Spongeworthy" her affair with the jazz musician and the mechanic who invented sex moves, and of course, her unforgettable lousy dancing made her a colorful character. George was awkward, funny, bitter, pathetic, charming and witty. This show is one that will remain in the mainstream for many years.
There are still reruns on tv and I hope all the episodes of all the seasons, including the memorable finale are captured on DVD. The finale was the highest rated episode and the most watched. All of America tuned in to see the cast jailed as a result of vendettas for characters they had "wronged", including the Soup Nazi, the Iraqui restaurant owner and many others, among them the bitter and chubby mailman Newman. This show will be loved forever.
Rating: - One of the funniest shows of the last 20 years.
Seinfeld is just extremely funny. The jokes are quick and they are funny for a reason. They are close in a direct and indirect way with our lives and with our fears. We don't want to live some of the things that happen to this guys. That's why is funny. The cast is also excellent and people like them.
What can we can say about this? Not much. We all know it. Is a great show that goes directly to the "weak point" of Americans in general and I think that every person in the country has laughed with this show. Worth the money!
Rating: - Seinfeld, comedic genius!
I don't think anyone needs to hear what the show is about, everyone has seen it, and TV Guide gave it the title of best show ever. Some people don't understand the humor, and this is fine because there are other shows out there you might "get". Seinfeld is comedic genius and for the poor souls out there who don't think it is or believes that its not a thinking show, you are missing out on about 75% of the humor. And therefore missing out big time. Seinfeld, the only show who's re-runs never get old.
Rating: - RESPONSE TO SLOW-WITTED GUY FROM DC
I think the review was for the DVD as a whole. We didn't want your useless opinion because you couldn't understand the humor.Every one has seen the show, thats why it is rated the best show ever by TV guide. So we didn't ask what the show was about. Seinfeld is comedic genius. It is OK not to understand it. I know people that don't "get it". They are looking for three's company humor. Each to their own. Seinfeld humor needs thinking, and if you don't think so, you are not catching 75% of the jokes. Therefore missing out big time.
Rating: - How could anyone not like him?
I love the entire set. I love the interviews and the bloopers. I also love the pop-up text that comes with each show. I think they lend much insight to these episodes that I have seen over and over again. I don't care that I paid an extra $20 for a salt and pepper shaker and a deck of cards. It was worth it. I'm out there, Jerry, and I'm loving every minute of it!
