Rating: - Favorite season yet...
With every season's release, I eagerly awaited Season Eight for this simple reason: in my mind it stood out as the funniest, wackiest and most memorable of all. Aside from pure hilarity in his delivery, Seinfeld had the incredible ability to make simple thoughts and actions seem funny; things that might occur to you in your daily life, like The Muffin Top idea, was turned into a non-stop joke. Larry David's departure didn't impact the show adversely and the ensemble cast, one of the finest in television history, continue to work seamlessly together to deliver scene upon scene of laughter. Through the nearly 10 years that Seinfeld has been off the air, I continue to hear every day references in conversation to his classic lines, i.e., Not That There's Anything Wrong With That, Yada Yada, I'm a Day Person..... and the list goes on and on. Add this to your collection or you will be missing possibly the best of them!
Rating: - They Lost The Edge
Season 8 definately is a change, and not necessarily for the better. The departure of Larry David is very evident. The series now has the feel of bad vaudeville. I wish I had rented instead of buying.
Rating: - Zany, but essential for fans
Classic Seinfeld is best demonstrated in the middle seasons, but the series ends better than it started. The story lines start getting a bit crazy without the guidance of Larry David, but there are still many memorable episodes: The Yadda Yadda, The Little Kicks and The Bizarro Jerry all stick out in my mind. Those are actually some of the most remembered episodes ever, up there with the Soup Nazi and The Contest.
As always, I found the commentaries interesting. More so when they are from a writer or director (the actors typically don't know much more than the viewer).
Rating: - This show never jumped the shark
I just bought season 8 yesterday, and i couldn't stop watching it..the picture is so much better than the ones i see on tv, and it's uncut! The little minute long dialogues (that replaced the stand-up material) you see at the beginning of each episode were cut out in syndication but are included here!
I can't say anything good about this set that hasn't already been said, but i will say this..the episode "The Checks" still features actual Eagles music! The cost of licensing obviously didn't bother jerry too much, of course it wouldn't made much sense including it with crappy replacement music! And the ones who put Happy Days Season 2 together couldn't afford Bill Haley or Fats Domino?!! Well anyways, the episodes are exactly as i remembered them when they aired in 96-97 and i can't wait for the final season to be released in november..Enjoy, as i have.
Rating: - SEASON 8 IS FANTASTIC TELEVISION! CAN THIS SHOW GET ANY BETTER?
I am a huge fan of the show.....who isn't? Season 8 is as good as any and it seems like it could have gone on forever. I guess it's true that you want to leave them wanting more. Great DVD set with some interesting extras.
